Does anyone know alot about baby cribs?  Seems like everything out there is either super cheap $200-300 or over $1000.  Aren't there any middle of the road $500-600 range out there?

How in the world do you know what to get?  What is safe, what is overpriced, etc?

Any help would be appreciated.

we bought our crib at babies-r-us and it was on clearance for around $300 originally it was around $600 i think. to be honest w/you, i think the most important thing to us was the construction. did it feel sturdy and safe? i wouldn't really recommend ordering one off the internet unless you have seen it or one similar in a store (i know some people may disagree w/me on this...) also, a big plus with cribs now is that they are convertible into a toddler bed and then a full size bed, which is what we got. so you can take that into consideration when looking at the price, is this a piece of furniture your child will use for a long time? marissa will more than likely be using this furniture until she moves out:) hth! good luck:)

We (my mom actually) bought Generation Next and we LOVED the set.  We bought it 7 years ago and are still holding onto the dresser, but gave away the crib.  It was so well made.  We had the one pictured in dark oak.  It is a 3 way sleigh crib (crib, toddler bed, full size sleigh bed adapatable).  I highly recommend the line.  I don't remember exactly what it cost, but I'm thinking it was around $500-600.

Can't post the pic, but here's the link.  They sell it online and B&M stores.  We bought ours in Scottsdale, AZ.

Have you read Baby Bargains?  Here's a blog for them, too:

I'd do your research online about brands that tend to be good and bad to narrow it down, and then find as many as you can in store and give 'em a good test out.  I'd want a drop down side and an adjustable mattress level, personally.
