I have some acne scarring on my cheeks and forehead and some acne that just wont go away, so I'm wanting to do this chemical peel + laser at my derm. I know its intense and my face will be raw and will peel for awhile, but I'm so fed up. anyone done a peel or laser before? I am assuming it hurts? Here is what their website says...
FRAXEL Laser
One technology we use is the new FRAXELTM Laser system, an FDA-approved method that can repair aging and sun-damaged skin in just four sessions. The treatments improve the skins tone, texture, and pore size, while also erasing unwanted brown spots and removing fine lines and creases even in very delicate areas such as around the eyes, or on the neck, chest and hands. The improvement of the skin with the FraxelTM laser is predictable, with a high margin of safety. http://www.facialplasticsurgery.com/chemical-peels.php

I am no expert but Im under the impression that with acne scarring a repetitve mild chemical peel (that increases in strength with each application) can be very effective rather than a peel+ laser and dealing with the healing process.
I've done peels before for acne. In my experience, they help the most with scarring when it's applied during the healing process. Applied later, it helps with discoloration but not really with pitting. I have the best luck using it on a semi-regular basis to keep my pores clear, which is the best way to avoid scarring.
From what I understand, lasers can be good for discoloration-scarring, but micro-dermabrasion is the best for pitted scars.
