I have keratosis pilaris (little "chicken skin" bumps on my arms), and I hate it! For the past couple months I've been using a lotion with alpha hydroxy in it and exfoliating with a shower pouf, and haven't seen any improvement so I need to step up and get something else.

Does anyone have any lotion/exfoliator/etc recs to help with this?

I'd go with either a St. Ives type scrub or an aspirin mask for the exfoliator - the shower pouf doesn't do much in the way of exfoliating IMO.

What lotion have you been using?

I have this too, but it's not too bad and doesn't bother me much, so I don't have specific recs, but this site is great: http://skincarerx.com/keratosis-pilaris.html

I just bought Bliss Super Slough Scrub. Some of the reviewers on beauty.com mentioned it helped a lot with their KP. Though at $34, it's a little pricey.

I use Vaseline Healthy Body lotion. If I'm consistent about using it, I get nice results, but not anything amazing.

I'll have to check out that site Hb posted. I hate having KP!

Oh, and this is bad, but I got a terrible sunburn this summer, and my bumps looked a lot better after that for several months. Tanning isn't exactly a great solution though. hmm

ETA: This site looks helpful. http://www.keratosis-pilaris.com/what.php

No idea about KP but I've heard that an AHA lotion from the drugstore helps with Kp. Its called AmLactin, its about $15. Its available up to 12% but any higher you have to get a prescription... its worth a try.

I have heard that the Bye Bye Bumbs is awesome for KP.

Just a heads up, I checked MUA and the Dermadoctor Bye Bye Bumps lotion does not have a very good rating. The AmLactin that Xtina mentioned has a 93% rating. I just went to the store and picked up a bottle of AmLactin.

I just read in a book called, What Your Doctor May Not Tell You about IBS, that many people with low levels of Omega-3 fatty acids often have KP.  Other symptoms of this deficiency include cracking fingertips, dull patches of skin, mixed oily and dry skin, alligator skin on the lower legs, dry hair, dandruff, hair loss, soft and brittle nails.  Fun!

I use Glytone Retexturize body wash/scrub and lotion. When used together regularly it works REALLY well.

Just heed the warning not to use the wash or lotion after shaving!
