my review of bare minerals...and a question?

I got my starter Bare Minerals kit in from Sephora and I tried it.  I do not like it.  It doesn't give as much coverage as I like.  I know it is supposed to give you a natural look and cover blemishes but, honestly, I don't like the natural look.  I like looking like I have on makeup.  I like for it to look very done.  Here is the question.  I bought this from Sephora and have only used it once.  Isn't is true that sephora will take back makeup that has been used if you are unhappy with it?  I have heard that, but  I do not see that policy anywhere on their website.

I've returned makeup to Sephora that I've used before, and they had no problems taking it back. As long as you have a receipt, there shouldn't be a problem.

Ditto.  I don't care for Bare Minerals as foundation either (and actually don't like the brand itself), but I use larenim over my foundation instead of traditional loose powder.  That way you can go lighter, and because the particles are smaller than regular powder it makes you look flawless.  I buy the sample sizes in 2 colors and mix them as needed throughout the year.

Thanks.  My kit is on its way back to Sephora.  Elle, I have never heard of larenim.  I went to their website.  What product from them do you use?  The powder?

I just got Bare Minerals and it's the first foundation I've ever actually used (well, not counting my misguided middle school years). I personally hate looking "done" and that's what I like about this--it looks really natural and glowy on me. It does seem to draw out wrinkles, but I'm 21 so that's not much of a problem.

My sister uses BM and it looks amazing on her skin (she seriously looks like she is pregnant or just had sex - all glowy), but it made me look tired and drawn and like I had tons of wrinkles.  I have clear skin, but every once in a while get a pimple and it wouldn't cover them...

Anyway, I took mine back to Sephora no problem... You shouldn't have any issues!

By the way, if you are looking for a foundation that makes you look done, I recommend Estee Lauder Lucidity.  I know a lot of people hate Estee Lauder foundation, but I have used it for the past 2 years and always get tons of compliments on my skin/makeup...  have never tried anything I like half as much (well, that's not true, I used So Ingenious from EL, but they discontinued that... furious).

I will give that a try.  I know how you feel about you foundation being discontinued.  I had used Loreal (?) Continuous Wear and the last time I went to buy it, there was none to be found anywhere.

Oh no!  I am sorry you didn't like bare minerals.  I should have mentioned this product in the original post.

Since you wanted a makeup that acts like a concealer, I wondered if you had ever tried Estee Lauder Maximum Cover?

Maximum Cover - Camouflage Makeup for Face and Body SPF 15

It's been around for over a decade, so I assume it's pretty popular.  I discovered it by accident when my mom did not like it (she doesn't really wear makeup) and passed it off to me back when I was a teen.  I don't need full coverage most of the time, but this stuff is the highest pigmented coverage I have ever tried and kept buying throughout the years. A pea sized drop goes a long way if you just put a dab under eyes and blemishes.  I have melasma, and when it was at it's worst, this makeup covered it perfectly. I still keep some around for serious concealer and probably always will.
