we're migrating stylethread.com to a new host today, so if you go into the general site and something's funky, that's why smile

I am soooo soooo excited about the new site we're working on!  It's going to be sooo cool! We're hoping it will be ready in the next couple of months -- there's a lot of programming involved. 

The new forum, however, will launch sometime this week. I'll keep you all posted...

How exciting! I've got my brand new screen name already thought up--- it was tricky though, I've decided to go with my own name.

PS: I tried really hard (for about 15 seconds) to come up with something witty and punny about migrants and refugee camps. Something about quota systems and border walls but I got nothing.

Woohoo!  How exciting.  Now just to be clear, because I'm a little confused, will the web url/link still be the same?  Will we continue to come here and just be redirected to the new forum, or will the new forum just replace this one?

Today we are migrating stylethread.com (the general site.)

Currently we have two urls: stylethread.com (general site) and stylethread.activeboard.com (the forum.)

The url for stylethread.com will stay the same.

However, the url for the forum will change.  I will post the new url when the forum is launched later this week.

stylethread.activeboard will stay up indefinitely (so you can look up old posts), and I will turn off posting.  I will however have sticky messages in all categories sharing the new url so everyone will know where to go.  I am unable to redirect from this forum's location since the host of the forum does not allow control panel access (part of the reason for the new forum.)  The current forum provider also "owns" all the content in all of their forums - one of the reasons for creating a forum we completely own - if they go out of business for whatever reason, we lose everything.  I want to safeguard the community by moving us to a place we completely own so we'll never have to be at the mercy of a forum provider again.

You know the saying when someone is building a house? Triple the time and triple the budget?  Well, in my experience, building sites is very similar to building a house.

We thought it would be a simple migration, but it's not...  Before we can launch the new forum, the general site needs to be migrated.  Our current site host does not allow us to easily migrate.  SO... Hopefully we make the move over the next few days...

I'll come on and post to keep you all updated as things progress...
