anyone watching biggest loser?  I have been and its really been motivating me to get my post-surgery(s) weight off.

I want to drop at least 40 lbs before I go to Europe in May.  I joined the biggest loser club hoping that the plan will help me reach my goal.  I do like that there's an online food diary with recommended calories, ect. as well as recommended exercise. I decided I would rather do this instead of weight watchers...

I want to go from this back to this:

Anyone else in the biggest loser club?

I just wanted to say that I can't believe you have 40 pounds to lose, was that a typo??

And I am not a member, but I do like this show too.  It's really inspiring!  One of the better reality shows on television.  I just love those trainers.

well thank you, but there's a 30 lb. difference between those two pictures!  heck, I could lose 50 lbs and still be within my healthy weight range...

I hate how I look and feel, and no one can change that but me smile plus, I want to wear my clothes!

I really like the show too - I want a trainer (but I'd rather spend my money on other things.)  I figure if those people can get that much weight off then I can too!

I love the show too. I find it really motivating. I'm don't follow the online club, but I'm w/ you in having a good 30+ lbs I'd like to get off my body before summer. Good luck!

I find it really inspirational too.  I watched last season and really liked it, but purposefully didn't start watching the new season - I'm a compulsive show follower, and woefully DVR-less.

I'll have to check out the online club part ...

Good luck, D!  FWIW, if your elliptical is near a TV, Biggest Loser makes for some fine motivation.  I can keep going for a whole hour when I'm watching the show at the same time.

thanks for the encouragement, ladies!

I'm really liking this online food and exercise diary -- it automatically fills in nutritional info, and for the exercise, it automatically fills in the calories burned.  There's also a little bar graph to show your progress -- I like the visual -- it all seems less daunting.

this is what the food diary looks like:

I'm not a member but since you're into counting calories, do you have a heart rate monitor? It's really changed the way I work out. It's easy to do not much for a long time or too much for a short time but it's harder to keep your heart rate up (but not too high) over 30-60 minutes, depending on your workout.

I got a Polar heart rate monitor and it's really great. It keeps track of the minutes you worked out, the minutes you were in your goal heart rate range, and the calories you burned (you enter in your particular information). It also gives a summary of each "period" that you're measuring, i.e. a week, 2 weeks, whatever.

I love the show too.

I was actually looking into trying that plan out to swith it up from WW. They don't givey ou very much info beforey ou pay though. Do they tell you what to eat at each meal or guide you through with that somehow? Do you gte to eat "real" meals (or is it like, have an english muffin, cottage cheese, and a banana and call it lunch)?

honey, what happened to your typing? lol

I looked into weight watchers.  It was something like $70 for 3 or 4 months?  I can't remember what the initial sign up cost was for biggest loser, but I opted to get books (exercise guide, cookbook, and general plan book -- that got me some free shakes and a bottle too -- I like freebies smile) and it cost me approx. $60 (with no time limit.)

what I really like about the biggest loser club is the online food diary -- I'm online all day and it's a great way for me to keep track of food and exercise. One thing I really like about the food diary is it recommends your calorie, protein, fiber, etc. for each day -- it's helping me re-learn food content and proper eating -- it's pretty cool.  I have just been putting in the food I have and haven't made any recipes, but the recipes I've seen are doable too - real live stuff I would honestly eat.  This weekend, I'm going to go shopping with the shopping list they provide to make the week's food -- I'd like to learn exactly the combinations they are coming up with to reach the recommended daily intakes.  I'm really viewing this as more of a learning thing (in addition to weight loss.)

It would be fun if you join -- then I could have a weight loss buddy smile

Good God, that's pretty awful. weirdfaceashamed

I'd be interested in hearing how it goes following their food combinations. I'm pretty good about my calorie intake, but my menu isn't always the healthiest or most balanced so I'd be interested in following a more structured plan for a bit. I wish they let you see a sample menu or something before shelling out the money to join.

heck - I can show you samples...  and it's not so much calorie counting, it's protein and other counts that I'm interested in. Although they do change the nutrition and calorie counts daily - it's like part of some forumula they have put together.

here's a sample menu for a day:
