Carrie Bradshaw: The fact is, sometimes it's really hard to walk in a single woman's shoes. That's why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun.
You just place a filter in the top, add your coffee and pour boiling water over the grounds.
For the Bodum^^^ you put grounds directly in the pot, pour boiling water in, stir it around and let it steep for a few minutes, then you plunge the mesh disk down to seperate the grounds from the liquid.
I actually got a Bodum for Christmas but I haven't tried it yet (I was in the process of moving and just stuck with what I knew). I hope to try it this week. I'll let you know!
I have a Bodum. It makes superior coffee by far. It's best to grind the beans yourself because you want them coarser than the usual drip coffee. (Not necessarily every morning, but maybe a few day's worth at a time.)
Get the biggest one they make (you don't have to make a full pot, it's just nice to have the option of serving more than one or two people) and an extra carafe since you will break at least one.
I really love the Bodum. Mine is going on four now. I also like a very strong cup of coffee with foamed milk for breakfast (I guess a bastard cappucino), and this does the trick. Highly recommended. It's easy to clean, looks cool and is really fun!
