Michelle Obama: Fashion Faux Pas
Permalink Closed

I was just watching Obama announce his win in Iowa... Michelle Obama appears in a tight blue dress, and when she turns around, you can see her long, glittery, shiny zip all the way up the back of the dress!  The lights were gleaming off it- it looked like a snake.  I don't usually comment on political figures' fashion sense but this was really jarring.  My mom thought the dress was a size too small as well, and she was definitely stretching it, but I'm kind of out as to whether it was appropriate, because generally I like to wear tighter dresses as well.. Nevertheless, I felt a bit sorry for her re: the zip, as I'm sure she had no clue.. anyone see this clip?

I don't recall anything looking amiss. In general, I find her to be very chic for a presidential canidate's spouse. Go Obama!

I agree that she generally looks good. This was an anomaly.

Is the picture above the dress you are talking about?

no. I just posted that to show how she is somewhat fashion-y for a politician's wife.

I hope I'm not being completely dense here, but is a zipper showing a faux pas? I don't really like having noticeable zippers, but I don't' think that's ever stopped me from wearing a dress that I liked otherwise

I didn't notice that -- and I agree with what has been said above about her usually being super-stylish for a politician's wife.

I love exposed zippers!  Maybe it just didnt photograph well, but to me , that is certainly not a fashion faux pas.  We all like different things.
