February wedding

I have a wedding to attend in early February.  It will be in the evening at a nice downtown hotel.  Nice but not black tie.

All the dresses I currently own are either too summery or too casual, and all the warmer looking dresses out right now seem very business casual.  I'd rather not do a wrap because I get cold easily and we'll be sitting awhile for dinner.  I thought of doing tights as well but they seem more 'day' to me - I might be mistaken there.

Thoughts?  What would you wear to a winter evening wedding?

I would go with a nice long-sleeved dress (but not floor length, as I know you're petite) and slightly more closed-in shoes. And then I'd expect to be a little bit chilly. smile.gif

How about something like one of these:

One of my friends wore something like this with black tights and black heels this weekend and it looked really cute and dressy:
Juicy Couture Bubble Sleeve Dress with Velvet Trim Maggy London Metallic Knit Dress

I 2nd this. I like these types of dresses w/ opaque black tights and patent leather shoes. These two are my favorites.

if you get cold, you can throw on this: wink

Sexaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

I really like those dresses, but can't pull off the style cry.gif.  I think I may just have to suffer and be cold, because alot of the stuff out there with a longer sleeve is that trapeze sort of shape hmm.gif.  Unfortunately it always looks either cutesy or pregnant on me.

Could this maybe work ...?  Possibly with tights?  And could probably be worn again through the year with a strappy sandal?

Or this one?

I think that will work. I didn't necessarily mean trapeze-just the overall feel. Jersey/silky dresses with tights. My friend wore a subtle empire waist one recently w/ tights and pumps and it looked great.

I like the first one you posted and almost posted it, but wasn't sure about the no/short sleeves. I think it would be great with black tights, but also cute with strappy heels.

So, I hoofed it to the nearest Nordstrom to find this:

Very chic in person and well lined, but they only had a size 8 (and only a 12 online).  I tried on the 8 anyway and it was just a little big, so the SA did a search for me and is having the correct size sent!  And, it's only $48 in the store, instead of $98 online!  Wheeeeeeeee!  Will post pics when it arrives - I heart.gif it.

Very nice choice. I think it will work with tights and be usable again in warmer weather.
