Eyebrow Pencil offshoot...
Permalink Closed

I saw the thread about eyebrown pencils for redheads and it got me wondering....

I've used just a dark shadow to fill in my sparse brows for years now...should I switch to a pencil?  Which is more "real" looking?  And what sort of technique for penciling is best?  Anyone know of a site that would go into this at length?

I'm STILL trying to decide if I need to reshape or thin out my brow line!

I would stick with the shadow.  I use a cool medium brown eyeshadow from Lancome.  It's the only thing that doesn't look like I painted on clown-brows.  I use the stiff eyebrow brush from Sephora to apply.  It gives just enough definition.

I agree, powder is more natural and easier to apply. I use something by Smashbox , I think its called Technobrow, its got 2 shades of powder and a wax.

Powder is much more natural looking. With a pencil you have to be meticulous about how you're applying it, but the powder is easier. When I was trying to grow them back in, I used the same Sephora eyebrown brush pollyjean23 mentioned and a chcolate brown shadow from Valerie Beverly Hills.

I'm using the Mac Pencil, and I love it because I can use it to create a line under my brow, but I can also use a brush to blend it into the rest of my brow. Whatever you decide to use, I think depends on how well your technique is.

I agree with Subwolley, it depends on the application. With the right color pencil and a blending brush I can get pencil too look far more natural than powder.

I think powder is easier and best if you don't like to spend a lot of time with make up application. I have both a pencil and some powder. I use the powder daily, and only use the pencil when I feel like taking the time to. The trick is getting the powder applied to your skin and not have a bunch of powder in your brow hair looking all goofy.

I have the smashbox quad that Xtina mentioned, and have the smashbox brush too. I just bought a Cargo pencil that I like.

A while back a drugstore brand had a nice pencil with a bruch cap on one end, and a hard foam tipped applicator with powder in the cap at the other end. I don't recall who made it, but if I were guesing I'd say L'Oreal. I bought it at Walgreens and liked that product until my dog ate it and I couldn't find it again.
