Ebay custom dress - need help picking a fabric!
Permalink Closed

I'm finally taking the plunge and getting a custom dress from the seller twinkle ordered from a while back.

This is the style I selected
rolandkeira219rf.jpg

the fabric options are described as:
"stretch, suit like, non wrinkle solid colors: BLACK, MIDNIGHT BLUE (darkest blue, close to black) chocolate brown" plus these

and "cotton and poly mix with stretch, tweed like appearance but not as bulky"
which comes in a number of colors.

The seller said they've made plenty in both fabrics and they both work well but the tweedy one is obviously more fall/wintery.
Opinions?  Any favorite colors?

What colors do you gravitate to more? I love the greens and browns.
I have been debating myself about one of these. The style you chose is awesome!

Midnight would be gorgeous.  Really, any color in that dress would be.  In what type of situations would you wear it most often?  That might help you decide.

I'm soo indecisive!  At first I thought I'd just get black or gray or brown but some of the other colors are so pretty.  Other than those neutrals I tend to wear a lot of blues and greens.  I was thinking midnight blue could be a good compromise.
I don't have any office appropriate dresses and thought this would be a good option to have on days I want to look dressier or have someplace to go after work.

If this works out well I'm thinking of getting the Black Halo dress copied next so I could always do one dress in a color and one in black.

Those dresses are great! I think a tweed in one of them would be nice.

Who is the seller? I would love to look into it...

I've seen that Black Halo dress in person, and it is sooooooo beautiful. Please let us know how the dress you're ordering comes out, because I would dearly love to have a copy of that Black Halo.

if you get the black halo dress copied, get it made shorter unless you are tall!

I think that dress would look beautiful in the red tweed material.

I like the idea of the navy or midnight blue, although personally, I would choose the greyish brown tweed (similar to the one pictured). I think if you get it in the blue nontweed, you'd be able to dress it up more.

PLEASE review when you get that dress! I have considered ordering but can't pull the trigger. I like the idea of midnight blue, and I also like the dark purple (14) and the light brown tweedy fabric (2) if you can pull off that color.

I'd be inclined to make the dress as seasonless as possible. My personal favorites are the teal/peacock suit fabric and the dark purple or green tweeds.

I think midnight blue suit material would also be a great choice that's more neutral.

I think that dress would look great in the tweedy fabric. My favorite is the purple (14). But I also like the suit material in chocolate brown, purple or midnight blue. And I think both dresses with look fab on you! Post pics when you get them done.

If you're having a custom dress made, I want to say something you can wear all the time. But, then I say, go for something more standoutish, even if you couldn't wear it as often. A lot of help I am!

Thanks, all! I decided to go with the midnight blue. I hope it works out! I'll post a review when I get it.

I love that dress you picked out. I have been wanting to try those dresses for a while. I think the shipping is what scared me away, but it is still a good deal for a custom dress. I would love to hear your thoughts when you get it back.
