Hair dryers or straightners?
Permalink Closed

I'm thinking of buying my mom a really good hair dryer or straightner for either her birthday or Christmas. Where could I possibly find one and what are some good brands to look out for?

Chi makes great dryers and straightners. I have both and love them both! They do far less damage to your hair than others IMO. Kind of pricey, but definitely worth it!

Chi does make good straightners, but the on and off switch on my chi got messed up. The same thing happened to my cousin's chi.

I have a Chi straightener and I love it.  It makes a great gift too...I got my mother in law one for her birthday and she loves it as well!  I bought hers off of amazon.com...they have them for $85 with free shipping!

Thanks girls!
I was thinking Chi would be the best but wanted to make sure.
I have another question now. My moms hair can get kind of dry and crispy and I think it's because of the dryer she uses now. Whenever she goes to the salon her hair always looks nice and smooth.
Do you ladies think that if I were to just get her the Chi dryer she wouldn't have to use a straightner too?

I got a T3 hairdryer for Christmas last year and it totally changed my life!  It dries my hair a lot faster and my hair looks a lot better and is much less prone to frizzing when I use it.  I used to usually blow dry and then straighten my hair but I hardly ever use my iron anymore because my hair looks so much nicer in its (semi) natural state now.

It sounds like the CHI dryer would help, but I think a round brush and some thermal spray or styling/glossing creme could really help. If she has the things I listed, she shouldn't need the flatiron unless she wants stick-straight panels of hair.

I have to third the T3-  It makes such a huge difference.  I knew I had to go out and buy one from the moment my stylist used it on me.

Where could I find a T3 hairdryer or even a Chi? On a certain website or at a store possibly? I did look around amazon.com like Mitz suggested but wanted to compare prices.

Thanks ladies for all your help!

If you have a 20% coupon for Bed Bath & Beyond, you can use that toward the purchase of a flatiron. I don't know if they carry the hairdryers.

which t3 is it that everyone's raving about? I've decided i need a better dryer- mine takes 20 minutes ot get my hair semi-dry. I just stayed in a hotel and the dryer they kept in their rooms got my hair bone dry in 5! Unfortunately, there was no brand or model on it, and I'd feel like a dork asking the front desk. ashamed.gif

It looks like there are a few models of T3 and i don't really understand the differences.

ranchera - I think my mom got mine on Amazon but they also sell them at Sephora and on folica.com.

ILC - I have an older light-weight version which I've been really happy with. When I was in Sephora recently I picked up the new featherweight one and it was really, really light. I'm not really sure what differences exist other than weight and old models vs. new models. This is the one I have:

I also am curious about the T3 hair dryer, my hair is always slightly frizzy after I blowdry and I never can blowdry all the way because then my hair is REALLY frizzy. I may have to get one of these, they seem spendy but it would be wrth it if my hair looked great!!smile

Oooo the featherweight one sounds perfect for my mom! I was about to ask ya'll if these are pretty light because she gets tired having her arms lifted for a long time.
Thanks a lot girls! I'm gonna compare some prices with amazon.com and sephora.

So I just got my new T3 Featherweight over the weekend and I love it!  I still need to use my Chi straigtener to smooth my hair out a little, but there really is so much less frizz.  I mentioned in another post that I got it from Ebay...here is the link:
