Consign or Ebay?
Permalink Closed

I was going through my closet and have a few really nice things I should get rid of that I never wear. Leather jackets (from Zara) and some really nice pairs of boots and shoes (BCBG, etc).
I have a really good consignment store that I use that I get a pretty good return of stuff. However, I am little wary about taking more expensive stuff there since I can't "set a price" and I'd rather keep the stuff than see it be sold for practically nothing. Also with things like the leather jackets I have missed the fall deadline this year so I'd have to hold on to them until summer rolls around again.
I was thinking maybe ebay them but I've never sold anything on ebay before. Is it more trouble than its worth? I'm not even sure how well stuff like that sells on ebay?
Does anyone have any experience or an opinion on ebay vs consignment?

In my opinion it's better to ebay. This past Summer I took my baby girl's old fall/winter clothing to a consignment store and was shocked for how little I got in return. I thought I was getting cash, but no, I just got store credit. So I gave them practically a whole wardrobe for only a few pieces of clothing in return. I could have gotten so much more my ebaying and totally regret it. I just couldn't bring myself to tell them no deal after all the sifting through the clothing the lady did.

Anyways a lot of the time when I ebay I practically get as much as a paid for an item new! Totally worth it, plus it's fun to see your stuff get bids. Just have a set criteria of who can bid on your stuff. For example only accept bids from people who have paypal accounts. I haven't had a bad experience yet using ebay.

I personally don't like leaving nice stuff at a consignment shop where people can manhandle it and try it on..etc. I dunno. I just don't like that. I'd personally ebay.
