I get home tonight and my bf tells me that his college friend (and his gf whom I've never met) are coming at 9:00 to stay the weekend here. The apartment is a mess, he's taking an important test tomorrow morning, and I have a ton of work to do (I'm a first year teacher). Not to mention we're moving in a month and we're supposed to be looking for apartments this weekend. I had a coniption fit. I put my foot down and said no. The thing is, I know he's going to call his friend and somehow I'm going to be the bossy girlfriend that doesn't let him do things. Am I being unreasonable?
Nope. They can get a hotel and visit with you when you have the time. Sounds like you've got way to much going on and you need to think of yourselves first!
You're not being unreasonable at all. That is SUCH a guy thing to do. I really don't think they understand that to have guests means washing sheets and towels (both before the guests come and after they leave), cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, straightening up, and all of that. Sure it doesn't all HAVE to be done, but still, it's not like you're okay with having guests over with the house being a mess. I just don't think they get it. So maybe he'll learn his lesson that a little advance warning will pay off next time he has friends come into town.
I agree with NCShopper, my bf loves to invite people over, then sit on the couch watching tv while I scrub the stove, mop the floor, clean the bathroom, scrub the tub, etc. Its not fair!
