designer jeans for short people?
Permalink Closed

I'd like to buy a pair of designer denim for the first time (bloomie's private sale)...However, whenever I've tried some on in the past, they are very long.  Getting them hemmed basically takes away the bootcut.  I'd ideally love to get Citizens, but I'm going to try on 7's also (and others).  Does anyone have any tips/brands/styles to try?  TIA

Seven and Joe both make petite cuts with a shorter inseam (I think 30"- they're a tad short on me.).
I have pretty good luck with the regular seven bootcuts though- They drag a tiny bit with heels, but not enough that I bother to worry. You could take them up an inch or so without messing up the bootcut if you wanted. I also just got a pair of seven "flip flop" jeans- they're the perfect length for me to wear with flats (unhemmed).

For reference, I'm 5'2".

I'm almost 5'4" and I buy the regular jeans and get them altered, because the Joe's and Sevens with the 30" inseam are a bit short on me. I find that all the designer brands run very long.

I'm small, 4'11 and I get all my jeans hemmed. I notice that if you like boot cut, try the flare and when you hem them, you lose most of the flare and end up with a boot cut style. For example: I have done this to seven jeans, and true religion, and they all work out great. If you like the straight leg or pencil jeans, they will retain the same cut. I've hemmed J Brand and they look great.

I agree - try the flare style and when you hem them they will be bootcut.

Seven Joes and Paige make petite styles but I doubt they are available at Bloomies.

How tall are you? Sometimes when you hem the regular styles the knee breaks hit funny on your legs (like in the middle of your shin instead of at the calf). Otherwise you should be able to just find a good tailor and everything should work out ok.

I bought a pair of Paige Petite jeans at Bloomie's and they're seriously my new favorite. Check 'em out.

I'm with you in having to get everything hemmed and it's amazing to be able to buy a pair and wear them right away!

I'm 5', and I have some Citizens. I also got the flared style and my tailor was able to make them into a bootcut style.

Joe's Provocateur is the short style..apparently the inseam is supposed to be 30" but I'd try on multiple pairs IRL since the inseams don't seem consistent. I think mine are 31" because I can't wear flip flops without dragging on the floor a bit. I'm 5'3" and my go to pair of casual jeans are these...I LOVE being able to wear them without hemming at all.

Not to mention, they are great if you're curvy.
