glasses - update - please help me choose!

i'm planning to change my glasses and was wondering if anyone has seen any cute ones lately? i have fairly pale skin which is kind of yellow toned (i'm half chinese), a longish face and long dark brown hair with a fringe. i think my current glasses (which are black framed) just make me look even paler because of the contrast. any ideas? oh and i would prefer plastic frames over metal ones. thanks! x

I love shopping for glasses! smile

I actually think dark frames with pale skin and dark hair would be striking. But, if you wanted to get away from that look, maybe red or natural-colored frames would look good? Or you could try a frame that doesn't go all the way around (depending on your prescription). Lafont frames are my favorite. Some ideas from them:

I don't know why my links don't work! Sorry!

I love glasses too! I think there are a lot of cute ones available. I buy mine at a local boutique, so I don't have links. I really like colorful plastic tho. I have a purple pair that I find suprisingly versatile. However, I tend to think that as long as the glasses flatter your face, the color isn't too much of an issue in terms of competing w/ your outfit.

Plum or gray would be nice. I've seen some clear plastic that I think are cool if your style is on the funkier side.

Even a dark tortoiseshell would be softer than black, though if you go that route I'd also have new lenses put in your current frames so you can switch off. Sometimes brown frames don't look right with an outfit that has a lot of black in it (I'm bizarre about that stuff).

I'm noticing more people in the frameless styles these days too.

Guess makes some nice frames. Not too-too trendy but still stylish.

I'm with Miss Mabel, Lafont is the best!

I think burgundy would be a nice change from the black...I think when my insurance covers another set of frames, I'm going to try for burgundy ones. My coloring is similar to yours, though I'm more tan.

These are mine, the Naomi. I have a shorter, rounder face though.

Here they are in burgundy.

I'd definitely explore www.framesdirect.com and look at the Lafont collection...I think there's a funky interpretation of loads of different styles.

I need to get glasses to and this is my first pair ever so I have no idea where to go! I'd love to get some Lafont frames but I want to try them on first. Does anyone know how to find out if they're carried locally?
