I want to do a theme party for my birthday next week.  Originally, I wanted to do an 80s theme and go out to see an 80s band play, however, there were no 80s band playing that night.  So now, I'm thinking of a grafitti party, where everyone wears white shirts and we can write on eachother.  I'm not super excited about this theme though....anyone else have other ideas?  I want something where we can meet up and BBQ and then go to a bar afterwords.  Does anyone have any good theme party ideas (that aren't too difficult, as my bday is next week)?

Do 80's and go roller skating between dinner and the bar.

Would 70s or 90s be better/easier?

Hawaiian shirts, go to a tiki bar? Soccer shirts, go to a British pub?

This is random, but Spring Break 1992.  I think it is the funniest theme EVER and intend on throwing my own party with this theme one day.

-pick a letter and have everyone dress as something that starts with it.  (ex. pick L and come as lawyer, linebacker, little mermaid, etc.)
-alice in wonderland.  I always wanted to have a mad hatters party.

This blog has some cool ideas for themed parties:

My sister did this about 2 years ago, and it was a blast! We started the party at her house and then went out to a cheezy dance bar. It was Panama City cheezy and tons of fun.

My 30th birthday party had the theme "Tipsy in Madras" and everyone wore madras clothing. The pictures ended up being hilarious because of all the madras plaid. You could also vary that with a "Mad for Plaid" theme.

Ooh, we did a bridal shower a few years ago with a wig theme - everyone had to wear a wig. We had to relax it a bit to include goofy hats, too, since not everyone was enthralled about wearing a wig all afternoon...
