I really like to be prepared for anything, so I started a supply of things to put in the trunk of my car. (For breakdowns, emergencies, etc.) I have a few things but maybe you ladies can suggest more. For those of you who don't have a supply, you should really consider putting one together!
maybe boots in case you need to walk to get help? (if you live somewhere cold) also, in MN if you put a white shirt, or any type of fabric out your window, that is the sign of distress.

do you live somewhere where snow/ice is a problem? If so, put sand in there. I only carry that around in the winter, because it's too heavy to waste gas mileage in the summer, but if you get stuck in the ice/snow you can pour sand down for traction

I also read you can use kitty litter for traction. I don't know if it's true though.

It's true. They say a coffee can, a candle, waterproof matches/lighter, and kitty litter or sand (to hold the candle upright) have been a lifesaver for many who have been stranded in cold weather. The seemingly negligible amount of heat put off by the candle can apparently save your life. And the fact that the candle is in the can with sand/litter makes the whole thing safer than if you were to have just a candle.
