how long does it take you to steam your clothes?

Kitty's post reminded me that I have a steamer sitting in my closet collecting dust. I hate ironing, but my steamer takes FOREVER and it just wasn't worth it in the least. Granted, I got a crappy travel steamer (with the idea I could take it on trips), but still, it took like 30 minutes per garment.

How long does a good one take? I'd definitely spend a lot more for something that only took a couple minutes!

When I worked at Vicky's, the steamer took just 1 minute or so on silk, 2-3 minutes on satin, and what seems like forever on cotton. I'm talking about one of those huge, stand-up ones you see in the stores. The thing will burn your tushie off too. As for something a normal person would have at home, I don't know.

mine takes longer than ironing. It's more of a PITA too, because I constantly have to refill it.

mine only takes about 1 minute for silk items, 2-4 minutes for cotton, 5 for linen; all of these have moderate wrinkles.

i think if you invest in a good upright model, you shouldn't have any problems w/the time factor.  if any of the items i want to steam are severely wrinkled, i end up spritzing w/water and then steaming to help w/the time factor.

Mine only takes a few minutes for each item. 30 minutes for each piece doesn't seem right.

We had one at the store I worked at and it seriously took like 3 minutes max (even for fabrics like wool). It was awesome..and that's what inspired me to want to get one.
