Kashi Frozen Dinners

Yum yum yum!!!  I just had the Lime Cilantro Shrimp and, for a frozen dinner, it was amazing!  I had 5 good sized shrimp, whole grain rice, peppers, grilled red onion and carrots in a yummy lime & cilantro sauce.  I can see me eating this quite often.  They have more that I want to try:

Black Bean Mango
Southwest Style Chicken
Chicken Pasta Pomodoro
Sweet and Sour Chicken (this one, according to the Hungry Girl website is to die for)
Lemon Rosemary Chicken

I've had the Chicken Pasta Pomodoro, Lemon Rosemary Chicken, and the Black Bean Mango. All of the dinners were delicious except for the Black Bean Mango. It was just... mush. I don't know. Maybe I cooked it wrong. I'm seriously not that great with the microwave. But yeh, the other two get my vote. Lots of great flavor and a really good sized portion but still rather low in calories and fat.

Since it's Kashi I am assuming it's all natural and full of whole grains, but how's the sodium?

I just ate another one, the chicken pasta pomodoro, and it wasn't nearly as good as the first, so I don't recommend that on as much.  It had around 450g of sodium, and I can't remember how much the one I had last night had in it.  I agree w/ you about the sodium, that's what turns me off from frozen foods, but I need quick, portion-controlled lunches, and these are so yummy.

And, yes Deuce, they are made with whole grains.

Wait, seriously? 450 grams of sodium? That's almost a pound, right? I'm going to assume you mean milligrams, right? These sound interesting for lunch. How's the cost of them compared to other frozen meals?

Oops!  My bad!  Yes, I meant mg.  I paid $2.25 for each, but I bought mine at the at the commissary on the air base here, and they're usually cheaper.  So I would think they would be at least $2.00 at a regulary grocery store.

I've tries all of these, and they're pretty good for frozen. My favorites are the lime cilantro shrimop and the black bean mango. There's a pesto pasta one thats ok too. The meat ones are decent, but meat in frozen dinners generally skeeves me out.

hmm, interesting. I am looking for ways also to control my protion size when I eat, so I will be sure to try these too.

So after typing this I went to kashi.com and if you sign-up you can get one of their free snacks. Its part of their Kashi Snack Drive, to promote healthier eating.
