I still have about 15 or so more pounds to go and I can't seem to get it off! What can I do??
I'm still nursing could that be preventing me from loosing? I have started going to the gym...but I seem to loose some one day and gain some back the very next day.. It is becoming annoying! Any tips??
I hear you. It's so annoying waiting for pregnancy weight to just go away!
In my case, I credited nursing with the fact that I did lose my weight. Because I didn't exercise other than a two day a week non-intensive yoga class.
How old is your baby? For my first child, it took 9 months post partum to fit into my skinniest jeans. With my second child, it took a full 12 months. I did/do extended breastfeeding too.
I don't have any tips for losing weight though, sorry.

i heard breastfeeding burns fat. What are you doing at the gym? You hould be doing an equal measure of cardio and resistance. (boo)

okay...simply stated, you need to tone the muscle and burn the fat around it for best results. If you havent been active in awhile, (I'm not talking about you Ayo, I'm just making a point) then muscle deteriates and needs to be toned and you obviously need to burn the fat around it also. Does that make sense?

Oh, the joys of dealing with a post-preggo body Here are some things I'm doing which seem to work, for me at least, I only drink water, no juice or soda and no sweets like cookies, cake etc except maybe once a week and then very little. I'm also really trying to watch and make sure I don't eat a lot of starchy foods and instead go with whole wheat options. I also am doing pilates 3x a week and cardio 3x a week. I have about 10 lbs and then I'll be just a hair under what I weighed pre-preggo, I'd like to go ahead a lose 15 to be where I want to be. I am determined to be in my pre-preggo jeans by his 4 month appt and I'm getting closer, I can at least pull them up, now if I could just button them
Most people hang on to 5-15 lbs of fat for the duration of nursing - it's your body's way of ensuring you'd be able to feed your baby even if you don't get sufficient nutrients/calories. Nursing does burn something like 400-600 calories a day, and reducing your caloric intake too much would likely just mess with your supply. I have a couple different friends whose bodies didn't hang on to the fat and they actually got down to 5-10 lbs below their pre-preg weight - both of them continued to nurse, but dealt with things like constant colds, dry skin, not being able to regulate their body temps, etc. Blessing or a curse, I don't think they know!
I bet you'll have better luck when Jola starts eating more solid foods, even if you continue to nurse, because you'll be providing less of her calories. Your body is working really, really hard to keep producing like it is now!

So the issue I'm having is reducing calories without messing with my supply. It seems to be a rather delicate balance. I am starting to eat a bit better and
FP and Collegegirl I think I'll try to follow your suggestions. I do eat more sweets than I should :\ and I drink juice like it is going out of style. I do combine cardio with lifting for the reasons collegegirl mentioned. So hopefully it will yield some results. I'm just getting a bit annoyed with the back and forth...like I've been playing with about 6 pounds for what seems like 2 months now. I'll loose 6 and then gain it right back. Elle, I read that too about the nursing, but I know so many people that have just drop so much weight during nursing (i.e Blink) why do I have to be different :\??
not much help here, just wanted to let you know i'm in the same boat as you are. my baby is 9 months old and i'm still not into my pre-preggo clothes. is this your first baby? with my first baby i lost the weight so much easier and quicker, but then again, i was running, too. i think my hips have widened with this baby, which i doubt is reversible. i've gotten rid of all my old clothes and i feel better now that i don't have them staring me in the face every time i get dressed. since you are nursing, i agree with the other ladies that you need to eat right and not worry too much about that extra weight. after you've weaned the baby, then you can focus more on dieting. also, since you are nursing and drinking more, try to drink as much water as possible, since juice is empty calories. maybe carry around a water bottle? i have about 5 pounds left, also, that i'd like to lose. we can do it!! good luck!

I have no experience (yet!) but I know of a few women who couldn't lose the last 10+ pounds until they stopped nursing. And, yes, I also know a couple who swear nursing is what helped them lose the weight right away. I liken it to gaining weight in pregnancy. There's the reccommended 25ish pounds, but every body is different and some women just HAVE to gain 60+ pounds in pregnancy, while others only gain 18 or so pounds and still have healthy babes. Your body is going to do what it does naturally regardless of how much you fight it. Just make sure you get adequate, healthy calories, exercise often (you already do, yeah!), and I think you will reach your ideal weight goal eventually. I know it must not be easy adjusting to your new body, but you do have a GORGEOUS little girl!
I'M WITH YA!! I've gotten back to my pre-pregnancy weight but I had gained 10 lbs. after going off birth control and trying to get pregnant. I cannot seem to get that off! I joined Curves. It's not a lot of work out but it's beside the office and the only gym nearby. Plus, I can do it during my lunch and not have to take time away from Hayden in the evenings. I can get back in some of my size 4 work pants but I kinda have a cupcake belly with them! I cannot get in my jeans yet. My goal was to be back in everything by the time Hayden was 9 months old. He's 6 months old now, so I have to get a move on. I didn't breastfeed so I can't help you there. I'm guilty of eatting BAD! I basically eat whatever but I have to change that. Let's start a team - motivation, motivation, motivation!!
Thanks everyone.. yeah I'm hoping since I started going to the gym more regularly maybe things would change. I'm trying to eat healthy but there is only but so much dieting I can do while nursing..as some of you have already mentioned.
It's funny because I can fit into most of my pants and dresses (although dresses are little tricky with the extra boobage) but my jeans forget it.. I'd weep if I'd have to give all my jeans away, especially my R&R Scorpions (I know you are the only ones that can relate to my pain on this) :(
I like rar210's idea..we should start a team even if there is only 3 or 4 of us..
I couldn't lose my last 15 lbs until I stopped nursing. Some people hold on to that weight as a "backup". Most people nurse and the weight falls off...me, I nursed and the weight stayed on.
I started losing a little more when Talia was about 6 months old...and I just recently went on Weight watchers to lose the last 7 lbs. (they have a program for nursing moms if you are interested!)
