Do you like this dinnerware? Is it too trendy, ugly, green, etc? I really like it, and I don't live in a house or anything where it would clash with the style.

http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=222&f=3637 Sorry won't let me post the picture.

I really like them but I'm not so sure they'll look modern enough 5 or 10 years down the line.

One last q: you're supposed to buy dinnerware in 8s, right? So 8 dinner plates, 8 salad plates, and 8 bowls?

Thanks! smile

I like things that are trendy and cute, but if you are wanting something that will last 5-10+ years I don't think this is it. I can see getting tired of this pattern very quickly and not liking it a few years down the road.

Yes, buy in 8s. =)

I like them; however, I fear their appeal will be short-lived because they feature such a bold design. Perhaps you could get the salad plates and/or bowls only and pair them with a plain, fresh white dinner plate. Use them more as accents.

Cost is subjective, of course, but do they need to last for 10 years? They are relatively inexpensive. Maybe you can get the whole set and use them to your heart's content until you get sick of them. After you're through with them, demote them to outside use and move on to another design/pattern that excites you.

If you like the idea of using your preferred design as an accent, here are some solid ideas that might look good (and will last longer without becoming tiresome).

It would be really cool if you could find green glass plaates that are the color of the green glass (I guess it's a martini glass?) thing in this picture. The design you like from CB2 was featured on hostessblog.com

I like this pattern too.

I agree with this.

Thanks polly - I never even thought of that! I think I might do just the salad plates and bowls and then get a plain white plate.

I like the pictures you posted - they gave me some good ideas.

I really don't need them to last 10 years... I probably would be sick of that pattern in ten years! However, they are relatively inexpensive, so maybe I'll get the whole set... Decisons, decisions!

Thanks heather - I was pretty sure it was 8.

I like the bowls but not the plates - patterned plates tend to make food look very unappetizing to me. With the bowls, the pattern is on the outside, so it wouldn't clash with the food.

I love the idea of using them as accents!

Pottery Barn makes a nice line of Asian inspired square dishes (and they are on sale right now!)

eta: I bought 12 settings of all my dinnerware...this way even if you have 6 or 8 people you have enough plates/bowls to serve on as well.
