So there is a big fire nearby where I live. It's hot, dry, and windy out. Not helping any. The smoke is starting to blow our way and it is stinky and choking. I'm just a little worried that it's going to get closer and my family is going to have to evacuate. I'm already starting to plan what I'll take if it gets to that. I hate fire season! There have been several fires the past month or so. Anybody else been on fire watch this summer?
I've been in your shoes a few times, having lived in a dry mountainous area, and I know how scary it is. I hope it doesn't head your way, but don't mess around if it does! Keep us posted, okay?
I now see the wall of fire on the mountain headed my way. I'm freakin' scared! I'm starting to pack even though we were told we do not need to evacuate yet. I'll keep updating any new news. Please send your good thoughts! Don't want to lose my home.
Cahabo are you in Montana? My BF is one of the incident commanders on the the fire near Kalispell (spelling?). They will let you know if you need to evacuate...and they always do everything they can to protect homes. I hope everything turns out ok for ya'll! Be careful!

I live in Washington near Hanford. So anyways, we didn't have to evacuate last night. The fire was blocked from coming any closer my way, but it's still burning elsewhere. I think we are safe for now thankgoodness!
Glad you're safe! I guess it never hurts to have a "rehearsal" in your head about what to pack, where are the wedding photos, mom's jewelry, insurance papers, etc.
We've had two mini-quakes this week and it reminded me of this site - www.72hours.org - on things you need to do in order to be prepared.
