I have a black tie event coming in DC in a month. Will be fancy but still will be upper management in my company ... Where can I start to look this time of year for something??? I need something not bride maid-ish or having a prom look. Don't want to spend a ton - 300-400 max - not sure if I will ever wear it again. Thanks

I pick up formal wear when i stumble on good deals.  I recently purchased a full length black formal skirt that was marked down from $200 to $50 on overstock - I also stumble on deals at TJ maxx on occasion -- since I'll probably wear a dress once or twice over the years, I don't like to spend much (but I do want to wear something beautiful - I just don't want to pay full price.) My recommendation is to check out TJ maxx, but I'll poke around on-line and see what I can find for you...

so, in a month... you probably don't want anything too summery looking. you'll probably want something somewhat modest with upper management around...
