So I'm pretty sure we all knew she was, but Nicole Richie finally admitted to Diane Sawyer last night that she is indeed preggo.  I just don't know how she can carry a baby when she's so teeny tiny.

In an exclusive television interview with ABC News' Diane Sawyer, Nicole Richie confirms for the first time she is pregnant with Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden's baby.

"Yes, I am. We are. I'm almost four months," Richie told Sawyer.

Richie, who is the adopted daughter of musician Lionel Richie, is a favorite paparazzi target and subject of gossip magazines, which have speculated endlessly about her pregnancy, her weight, drug use and relationships with other celebrities.

Richie was arrested on Dec. 12 on charges of driving under the influence, after she was allegedly spotted driving the wrong way down a highway in Burbank, Calif. The police said she admitted that she'd smoked marijuana and took the prescription painkiller Vicodin.

Richie pleaded guilty last Friday, and was sentenced to four days in jail, which she has until Sept. 28 to serve.

Richie also talks about her upcoming jail time, what happened the night she was arrested and how she believes her actions have affected those girls who look up to her.

"I have a responsibility and it's something that I did wrong, and if I could personally apologize to every single person that has lost a loved one from drunk driving I would," Richie says about her recent guilty plea. "And unfortunately, I can't, but this is my way of paying my dues and taking responsibility and being an adult."

Well, that would be nice. Especially as she's going to be a mom. Let's hope she turns out nothing like Britney's idea of mommyhood!

I still don't believe it. I guess the only way I'll believe it is if I see her get fat. And not just her stomach - her face, her arms, her ass, etc. Then I might possibly believe she's pregnant. Currently I'm still calling bullsh*t.

Eh, I actually think her weight won't be as much an issue as it might seem. As long as she can gain the right amount it's not going to be terribly horrible that she's underweight to start. I've had preggos that have started below 100lbs and never gained more than 15-20 and had healthy 8lb babies. She will also probably need to be followed for Iron studies as well as really really take her vitamins but I really think she's gonna be okay.

I agree that she can have a healthy baby. My mom was probably 100-105 lbs. at the beginning of all of her 3 pregnancies. I'm sure NR is smaller than that, but hopefully she can gain a few pounds soon. Lets just hope she has a good doctor to monitor her and the baby's health.

That is what surprised me!  I have heard that it is quite normal in the modeling industry for models to not ovulate or get their periods, and just assumed Nicole was as immaciated, but guess she's not.  Maybe she is naturally thin and the plumper Nicole was odd for her...

Anyway, I am really very happy for her and am very much looking forward to following her story for good reasons...

This is my argument. I have no doubt that a thin woman can have a healthy baby without gaining too much weight before or after conception, but I seriously doubt she was able to get pregnant in the first place. Call me cynical but I still just don't believe a word of it.

I'm kind of thinking along the same lines.  She was a huge joker on The Simple Life and always going for really oddball pranks, so part of me thinks she's playing a trick.  Who knows.  If it is true, then I hope she is able to turn her life around and be a mature parent.

This was totally me. I was anemic and had too take extra iron too, but both my girls were so big and healthy. Anyhow, I can't wait to see what Nicole's baby will look like!
