must be PMS - work rant

Please allow me to vent a few frustrations here so that I don't yell at my secretary or other staff members  OR worse, like throw them out the window.  I really think it is mostly PMS, but every little thing my secretaries are doing this week are sending me over the edge...(i'll probably end up deleting it...) but if anyone else needs to vent, I'll ge the ball rolling:

1) DON'T smack your gum!  Especially while on the phone with people!!
2) DON'T walk into my office and stare at me....TALK, what do you need?!
3) DON'T scream at me from your desk, either pick up the phone or walk your lazy ass in here.
4) If I ask you to get something, don't tell me it is in the file, GET UP AND GET IT! and Don't yell in here to say you have it....bring it to me!
5) and STOP telling me how/when to do my job - I am fully aware of my deadlines today...I have until 5:00 to get something filed...it is only 2:00...STOP coming in here and checking on me! I promise I'll get done and you can sprint out of here at 4:59 like you do everyday...god forbid you stay until 5:00!!!
6) DON'T spray your hairspray at your desk!  It stinks like AquaNet!
7) DON'T walk from office to office telling every single person the same stupid story about your kid!  I could hear you the first time, so could everyone else since you are so loud!  (Seriously, do we need to know that your 13 year old son who is staying home alone got scared today when a salesman rang the doorbell?)
8) AND STOP walking around with your cell phone strapped to your waist!  AND STOP answering it "Hey Buddy" in your 4-year-old voice every 10 GoshDamn minutes when your 13 year old kid calls!!!!!

I am sorry but I had to get these things out or else I was going to blow today!  We are so swamped this week, I have been working until 7:30 every night lately nonstop and if they would stop chit-chatting, and gossiping, and surfing the web, and forwarding stupid chain emails...things might run more smoothly!

And don't even get me started on their wardrobes lately...I swear they think business casual means denim cargo capris and fubber flipflops or birkenstocks with stretched out t-shirts!

Ooh...you have my sympathies. Everything you listed would drive me crazy. And I don't have your patience level, either.

Wouldn't it be great to just put all that in an e-mail and send it out to the offending parties?? *sigh*

Hang in there!!

lol - I know how you feel! hopefully the post helped and you can get your work done smile

I had a new girl start last week:

- when I'm showing her how to do somthing, she interrupts and tells me what I should do!

- if I'm showing her something and the next thing to do is really obvious, she tells me to do it

- i was working on a project with my intern, and she decided she wanted to participate - I tried to get rid of her but she wouldn't leave... she caught on and said she wanted to learn -- she needs to learn that when i want her to work on a project/task I'll let her know, but not to assume that I want her input/participation

it's just really irritating...

my intern also has a bad habit of walking behind my desk to look at my computer whenever she has a question -- I'm always like wtf?

it does kind of feel good to let it out smile

Well I skipped lunch, trekked halfway across the city in sweltering heat, walking many blocks in high heels, to get to an appointment on time for a client who FORGOT TO SHOW UP.

furiousfuriousfuriousfuriousfuriousfuriousfuriousfuriousfurious

only after coming back to the air conditioned office and sucking down cold lemonade and a yummy salad do I feel anything less than homicidal. Some people just take my breath away, though. I can't decide if this is better or worse than the guy who insisted I meet him at 8:00 in the morning because he simply couldn't do anything later than that, and then promptly forgot about the appointment. I was seething.

The biggest thing that irritates me is the woman who is in charge of the website designers (which I have been for years and years now, and only in the last week have I gotten myself out of the website design section). I sit next to her and we do vent to each other about our coworkers sometimes (basically the same thing we're all doing here). But I HATE when we discover that someone is doing something that's completely wrong and against the rules and not simply annoying. Like there's a huge issue right now with a salesman basically stealing company money (by offering our services to customers himself instead of selling them through the company). And we have a HUGE problem with co-op students not following the rules of the company and our company rules about website design. But they just keep disregarding the rules because she complains to ME all day, not them. I encourage her to tell the people what they're doing wrong, but she never does, so then I have to do her dirty work for her because otherwise she just finds problems all day and makes me fix them, which takes a zillion times longer than just bringing the issue up with the offender and telling them to start doing it right to begin with.
