ATTN: Girls w/ big calves who love BOOTS!!
Permalink Closed

I just got my Frye Mildred boots from Nordies in the mail, and they are a GODSEND for us ladies who are calf-tacular!  The buckles are adjustable, but as they come, they are slightly big, which I think is perfect for boot tucking.  Yay, Frye!  Bonus on the soles if you live in a snowy/icy climate!

Good news!  As they came buckled, they were just over 15.5".  They still have 2 more holes to make them bigger plus there's a little bit more stretch.  That measured at least 2 extra inches. There are also 2 more holes to make them smaller.

This is a rough measurement until I can find my actual measuring tape.  I just used a yard stick......

ETA:  15 3/8" circumference is what the description says, which is basically what I measured as they were buckled.

I told my hubby I want them in every color now!  They seem very comfy, but I've only tried them w/o socks at this point since they just came in the mail.

Which do you think would be more wearable with skirts and more formal looks (or none at all)?

_5411637.jpg the black?

_5411638.jpg or the gray?

blubirde: I really like the gray, though I wouldn't wear these formally at all. I am strongly considering them...I bought a pair of Fryes at the anniversary sale last year that I LIVED in.

Those are amazing!! Can I ask a really dumb question? I have always considered my calves muscular when I'm being nice to myself and big when I'm in a funk. I have had problems getting into or sipping up boots ocasionally but I'm not a huge boot buyer so I'm not sure if it was a random thing. I was just reading a Zappos review and someone said her calves were thin at 14 inches. That is my measurement and I wouldn't say my calves are thin! I'm sure it's a matter of perspective but what exactly is a big calf supposed to be anyway? Is there some sort of standard for calves when it comes to boots? I really feel like an idiot asking but that comment on Zappos totally confused me.

I have no idea what "big" would be.  I've never actually measured mine.  I just know that I have trouble zipping up boots and usually have to leave about the top inch undone, making it impossible for me to get to tuck in my jeans.

Mine are about 17", which I consider big. I have a hard time with boots. And, I love boots!

Thanks I might have to check these out!  Just another option to consider...I've got curvy calves and I have had really good luck with JCrew extended calf boots.  They seems to have even more options than ever this fall...not the cheapest option out there, but I have a couple pairs that are going on 3 years old...I live in them in the winter and they have held up pretty well (I've had to put new new heel taps on, but the leather has held up nicely)

You won me over MissMee. I ordered them after reading your post. Those of us blessed with voluptuous calves have to support one another. Thanks for the review!
