Looking for nice, classic oxford for about $60
Permalink Closed

My body is ridiculously wonky. For example, at BR my waist is a size 2 and my chest is a size 10! Obviously, I have some sizing issues to deal with! I've decided to start getting classic pieces tailored, and first up is a white oxford shirt. I'm hoping to spend about $40-60 - nice enough to be worth tailoring, but not super expensive, considering the fact that I'll have to pour money into the alterations.

Any suggestions? I've never bought an oxford for more than like $20 (couldn't justify paying a lot for something that doesn't fit me at all), so I don't have much reference for more expensive pieces/brands/stores.

TIA!

I would go for J. Crew or Banana Republic. I have a few of the BR fitted shirts, and I really like them.

I've never tried this, but Lands' End makes custom blouses.
You choose the fabric, cuff style, pocket/no pocket, etc. and then put in your measurements. It may be worth trying. I think the oxford custom shirts are $49.00.

filenes basement stocks ralph lauren oxfords for $39 in a bunch of colors (at least, the one near me does)

it shouldn't be too hard to get a new white ralph lauren on ebay or at tjmaxxs/marshalls either

I to have sizing issues, I am a 4 bottom/10-12 top. I really like bananna republic tops. I was planning to have to have mine altered too but the one I got actually fit nicely. They also have some with extended bust, so the chest is a bit larger and the rest of the shirt is normal, that way you dont get the tent effect.

Have you seen one of the extended bust shirts lately? I looked at the website and can't find any, I hope they didn't stop doing that :(
