There is a guy on our campus that takes our old clothes and gives us straight cash for it, no paperwork, nothing. Just cash. Is this okay?

I would be a bit worried more about who he is, and if it could pose any danger to you. (stalker, sexual predator etc)

People buy and sell stuff all the time like that. Like ads in the newspaper and such. If it was illegal, I'm sure people wouldn't be allowed to place ads. And on my campus they did the same thing with books until recently they started giving receipts. Also a couple weeks ago I sold my daughter's old clothing to a store and there was no paperwork involved. Just a little piece of paper stating I have store credit. If you're worried about it I'm sure you could ask for a receipt.

yeah, the guy is most def. a creep, you get MORE money if the clothing is worn and dirty (eew) this is TMI, but he gave a girl who lived on my floor $100 for a pair of panties.bleh

Buying and selling stuff in cash is completely normal and legal... but a creepy older guy buying dirty panties for $100 is clearly not normal! You should report this right away to an RA or student life official at your college.

I agree. There's nothing illegal about selling your own items for cash, but it's totally creepy that this guy wants worn items. If he's actually doing this on campus, I would report it to campus security. Otherwise, filing a police report wouldn't be a bad idea.

IMO, anything out of the ordinary should always be reported to somebody, especially when creepy men are involved. You just never know what's truly going on and it's better to err on the safe side.

Well, he may not be doing anything illegal by buying and selling used clothing, but he may be trespassing, which would be enough to get him kicked off campus.  Or he may be some perv that the cops are looking for.  This guy is definitely up to no good, so I'd call campus security and the cops to let them know.  If you have a physical description of him, all the better, but even if you don't, you should let the authorities know what he's up to.
