Wigs?
Permalink Closed

Does anyone know of a place (B&M or online) that sells good wigs? My boyfriend's mother was just diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma and will need 12 or so rounds of chemo. I'm trying to get a jump start on the hair thing. I'm going to get some scarves and a hat tomorrow, but I'm sure she'll want a wig. I did a quick google search, but so far I can only find costume-type wigs. A friend of mine said that there's a place that you can send a picture of your hair and they'll send you a wig of that exact style... I tried to get the name, but no luck. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, girls.

i would recommend checking out a local chapter of ACS, they should be of help, or asking around perhaps at the oncology dept of the hosp your boyfriend's mom goes to. my MIL had non-hodgkin's lymphoma a few years ago and both places were very helpful. we were able to find a place near us that makes custom wigs. they were on the expensive side, but some insurances will cover it, and if her's does not, the ACS i believe will give $75 towards her purchase. my MIL's wig was around 300, and it was very nice. it even had highlights and could be colored differently if she wanted it to be. (it was only partial human hair, but of good quality) they even put the wig on her head and cut it in a style she liked.

that said, she ended up shaving her head and very rarely wore her wig.
