hmmm....I don't know. I could take it or leave it.

Do they want to get you a nice piece of jewelry? If they are spending a lot of money I'd probably want something very classic like diamond studs or pearls, so you'll probably like it a lot longer.

I really like it,however;if you are looking for a peice that would be versatile I don't think this is it.

I think it's cute, but it's not something I'd get my parents to buy for me. KWIM?

I would get something more classic. My mom bought me a pair of white gold/ diamond studs for my 18th...I wear them all the time.

I agree with Lilykind - something more classic would be great. Then you could wear your present with everything for years and it'd be that much more special.

I agree with the other ladies on this one.  I would pick out a pair of diamond studs.  I also think a pearl necklace would be a great gift.

How about this Tiffany graduated bead necklace?   I own it myself and really love--I can dress it up or down.

I think an Adina necklace would be a great choice too.

thanks - i know what you mean about getting something more classic, but at the same time, i can't really see myself wearing things like pearl necklaces (and i don't have my ears pierced). i do like the adina necklaces though

I disagree about it not being versatile. I think you could wear that with almost anything. Labradorite is a stone that will complement many colors and the overall design is classic.

Personally, I find pearl necklaces boring. And the adina necklaces are nice, but I think the one you posted has a little more zing to it. If you like this necklace, then go for it. I don't think you'll regret it.

I'd go with something you LOVE. If this necklace is it, then go for it! I got a Tiffany necklace for my 16th birthday that I liked, but I should have gone for something I loved, because I rarely wear it.

I second a classic piece like diamond earrings or a pearl necklace - neither of which go out of style and they go with everything.

another option is a diamond bracelet. I have two - one in white gold and one in yellow gold - i usually wear one every day whether it's on its own or stacked with another bracelet.  I also wear my diamond studs often - they're my go-to earrings.

what about a nice set of gold bangles or stacking rings?  I also would get something you could wear more often- not necessarily classic, but something that is more versatile.
I really like all the zoe chicco jewelry:

its classic but not stuffy.

ooh - I like that jewelry!  I also like that it's solid gold vs. vermeil (which will tarnish) - love the 14k circle necklace with a 3pt diamond for only $360 -- great prices for contemporary fine jewelry!

Future Fashionista has some reasobably priced gold jewelry.  I bought this (in shiney gold) and it's realy cute.  I used a 20% off code, but I've seen 30% off before.

Also, i like some stuff that Etsy.com designers have.

PowderMillStudio, $200

I really like it!  I probably lean more towards the pearl sort of thing myself, but I think the most important thing is to get something you like, and I quite like what you posted.  I think the Adina necklaces posted or the suggestion of gold bangles are both great ideas and could see them being more versatile than the necklace -- but I think the most important thing is that you love it rather than it be versatile.  smile.gif

I like it. It's pretty and incredibly versatile- Labradorite is going to flash golds, greens, blues, pinks, purples: everything.  I think you'll find that is going to go with a ton of colors and outfits, the piece is nice and simple, easy to work with.

thanks for the suggestions everyone! lynnie - the zoe chicco jewellry is pretty too! it looks more like something i would wear compared to very classic things. i hadn't really thought about a bracelet, but i think i'd probably get more use out of a necklace. hmm decisions decisions!
