Face probs!!
Permalink Closed

So here is my dilemma, I have always had a very clear complexion until about 4 years ago ( I am 29 now), I started getting the occasional "PMS breakouts" well after 4 years of this, my skin doesn't look so great. I have some dark spots, where old ones used to be, that come and go. After I apply makeup you can't even see them, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a bleaching product or had an idea for fading these suckers. AND if there is an acne wash that REALLY works to prevent the monthly breakouts. I have used Proactiv with good results, but after awhile is really made my face look dull, and right now I use a oil cleanser from LaVitton that is awesome, and has improved my skintone, but I still get the monthly's!! Any help on this is greatly appreicated! I feel like I should have had this problem 12 years ago not now!!!!!

I only use proactive the few days before my period through the end of my period. That way my skin doesn't dry out and I can control the breakouts.

Also, I think a glycolic product should help fade spots.

Go to a dermatologist. They can recommend stuff that is way better than off-the-shelf products and are tailored to you. Usually their stuff is cheaper too

I scar very easily, and this stuff has faded a lot of them for me. And it even got rid of a sun spot of mine. You can get samples for under $10 at skincarerx.com. It's a VERY strong AHA product, though, so follow the directions exactly.
MaMa (mandelic & malic acid) lotion

For the spots I recommend:
Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel with CelluZymeAlpha Hydrox AHA Souffle 12% Glycolic AHA

Alpha Hydrox AHA Souffle 12% Glycolic AHA

A good, every day cleanser:

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment

Just some thoughts... I don't think a good cleanser is what you need, as it sounds like you're having hormonal break outs.  Maybe try seeing a dermatologist...

I would recommend a gentle exfoliator/micro derm.  Ponds makes a really nice one, purely polished.  This should help you with spots the old pimples leave.  You need to get rid of the old skin cells.  Also, I have to recommend Purity Made Simple cleanser by philosophy.  I stopped using it for awhile and I could really tell.  I makes my skin feel so clean.

2nd this recommendation. I personally think a retinoid + protective sunscreen everyday would solve both your acne & pigmentation problems over time.

I third it. I use retin-a every night and a high spf full spectrum sunscreen every day.
