He lives across the country so I'd rather give him something when I visit him in person. Also, it's much easier to treat him to a super-nice dinner + cool concert/show than to get him something like cologne or whatnot.

I got my dad a pair of Crocs and I'm probably going to get him the Planet Earth series because I know he'll love it. I wish I got to see my dad this weekend, but he's in Montreal for work.

Yep, dad's getting a phone call. He's really really not one for presents (which always makes me feel bad when he doesn't get any from me!) and I'm not going to go home to see him. It sounds terrible and selfish, but I'm moving home in a month and I'm trying to spend as much time as possible with my friends here while I can, and I'll have to be out of town the next couple weekends. hmm

I got my dad this book "More Letters From a Nut," which I think was written by Jerry Seinfeld under the pen name Ted L. Nancy. He writes strange letters to companies and includes their responses (ex: to the manager of a hotel he sent a letter about forgetting his fake suit of armor in a room). He's been looking for something funny to read. And I got him an album from Joan Osborne where she sings some Motown songs.
