Hello all, sorry for all the urgent requests, but I have a huge cyst like thing under my eye. I don't know if it is a pimple, because it has no "head" (sorry, I know that is disgusting). It also doesn't really hurt, but I think it may be a cystic acne.
Anyone, have any quick fixes for this? I am traveling on business and don't get back to my home until Thursday. Next week I have a "friend" coming to visit and this huge thing on my face must be gone. I scheduled a derm appt, but they can't get me in for a cortisone shot until Monday. I am going to try urgent care on Friday, but if that fails I have a couple of questions - is there anything else I can do to make this go away? If I don't have a shot until Monday morning, will it be gone by Tuesday night? Anyone have experience.
I have had similar things around my eyes. Not sure if they are the same thing you've described, but in both cases they were almost like a hard little ball under my skin that just never went away. The way I got rid of them is probably the completely wrong thing to do, but I just squeezed them out. I know, totally gross and unsanitary.
I'm sorry you are dealing with this! I would ice it to reduce the swell. I'd probably put a little tea tree oil on it before bed to see if it dries up a bit.
If you get a cortisone shot on Monday, it should only take about 12 -24 hours to reduce, so you'll probably be good by Tuesday night.

When you say huge, how big is it?
I originally tried that, but there is nowhere for anything to come out (I know, TMI)... It is basically an inflamed red spot the size of a plain M&M... raised up. Large, and raised, but kinda like a plateau, not a center mound (not quite that high, but definitely that diameter). Now I am afraid to touch it to make it any worse and then never be able to get rid of it or worse, create a scar.

Good luck!
Thanks. Have you done the cortisone shot before...? If so, does it hurt?

wow, that is much bigger than what i had. i would not recommend trying to squeeze it then! ouch, i am so sorry you are dealing with this! it sounds so uncomfortable. it sounds like going to the dermatologist is the best method. like luckylily said, try icing it and putting on some tea tree oil to reduce the swelling. for taking away redness, i've read that soaking a q-tip in visine and then freezing it before holding to your face is really effective.
I feel for you. I get these devils on my chin. Do not pick at it though - they get angry and you could push the bacteria further down (so I've read). Plus it causes more inflammation which you don't need more of. I haven't really found anything to work - but I haven't ever been to the dr. to get a cortisone shot either. I have found that the Mario Badescu buffering lotion somewhat helps th cut down on the inflammation and dry it out a little.
Murad Acne Spot Treatment usually moves things along much faster. I have been very satisfied with it. It contains sulfur, so it smells bad. I wear it at night, expect to launder my pillow sooner than I thought, and just deal with the aroma.

I have had cotisone shots before. It doesn't hurt, just a really quick prick. It is well worth it to reduce those suckers!
