Self Tanner/Gradual Tan Survey...
Permalink Closed

I know this has been talked about a million times....but there are so many new products out there right now so i just wanted to get everyone's opinion. What do you think is the BEST self tanner/gradual tanner based on:

1.) Color you get with it (is it natural? orangey?)
2.) Where do you apply the prodcuct (face too?)
3.) Smell of the DHA (on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst)
4.) Sreakiness
5.) Does it stain ur clothes/sheets?
6.) How long does the color last?
7.) Is the color noticable?
8.) How is the price for the amount you get

I'm using Dove Energy Glow Gradual Tanner.

1.) Color you get with it (is it natural? orangey?) Natural
2.) Where do you apply the prodcuct (face too?) Right now just on my legs, usually in on my arms too.
3.) Smell of the DHA (on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst) 1 - it actually has a good, perfumy smell.
4.) Sreakiness - None that I've ever noticed
5.) Does it stain ur clothes/sheets? No
6.) How long does the color last?  I'm not exactly sure - about 5 days maybe.
7.) Is the color noticable?  Yes, but I have to apply it several times to be really noticeable since it's gradual.
8.) How is the price for the amount you get - great!  I think it's about $6 roughly and lasts me quite a while.

I just bought Tanmist at Sally's.  It is an at home airbrush machine kit and I LOVE it.  I have always had terrible experiences with drugstore tanning sprays like Neutrogena Micromist such as streaking.  I read several reviews on this product on sunless.com and they were all good except some people had trouble with the machine tearing up. I accidentally dropped mine on the floor and it still works so hopefully mine is tough.  Anyway, I used the dark version of the airbrush solution that comes with it.  It has a bronzer so you can see where you apply it. If I can use it anyone can.  I sprayed it on and washed it off 5 hours later.  It wasn't dark enough so I sprayed it again that night and slept in it for 12 hours.  Then I washed it off the next morning and I am a nice medium/dark tan.  There is no streakiness or oranginess.  I had trouble getting my back but no problem with anywhere else.  The whole kit cost $49.99.  The refills for solution are $9.99 so except for the initial investment, it is about the same price as the self tanner lotions.  They are 5 oz and I still have about a third of my bottle left after spraying myself two times.  I feel like one bottle will last for about a month with me spraying myself every 5 to 7 days.  I am guessing that about 7 days is how long the color lasts with moisturizing everyday since that is how long my salon spray tan lasted.  I applied it to my face, but it really didn't take there so I used dark makeup.  The bronzer from the solution did get on my sheets, but after washing it off myself the next morning nothing has gotten on my clothes except I do have a little staining on the edge of my bras.  It really does not smell to me much at all.  I am thinking it has got to be too good to be true.  Here is the link if anyone is interested:

oil of olay radiance reviver for medium to dark skin

1.) Color you get with it (is it natural? orangey?)  natural, subtle
2.) Where do you apply the prodcuct (face too?) legs and feet only
3.) Smell of the DHA (on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst) 1-2
4.) Sreakiness-- really none, it is very hard to streak
5.) Does it stain ur clothes/sheets?  never had it happen to me
6.) How long does the color last?  if you use it every day to every other day, it doesn't really fade at all. if you use it for a couple of days in a row and then stop, it lasts for about 3-4 days.
7.) Is the color noticable? it depends on how much you apply at a time. but it is pretty subtle. it just looks really good.
8.) How is the price for the amount you get? excelent!!!

revlon skinlights sunless tanner

1.) Color you get with it (is it natural? orangey?) natural
2.) Where do you apply the prodcuct (face too?) legs only
3.) Smell of the DHA (on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst)  3
4.) Sreakiness -- not really. just apply it in small amounts.
5.) Does it stain ur clothes/sheets? not yet
6.) How long does the color last? 4-5 days
7.) Is the color noticable? yes, apply it in small amounts. in one light application you get a very nice color change. and it is a bronzant so you can pretty much see right away what the color will look like.
8.) How is the price for the amount you get? excellent!
