I haven't really said much about it here, but my hubby has been in Korea since January. He's doing a year tour. The girls and I are staying here in Phoenix, finishing up school, etc. It's been hard, but we talk on the computer via Skype multiple times a day. Gotta love the Skype and the webcam. Plus, he has a Skype phone with a local area code that I can call him on when he's in his room and it's free! So, it's been hard, but not as hard as it would be without the technology we have now.
We just got to see him for 2 weeks (May 3-16), and I just found out he's coming back to the states on the Air Force's dime for a class in June, so we get to see him again! The girls and I are flying out to Oklahoma for 4 nights! I'm so excited! I'll see him again in September when I take my trip to Seoul, and then he'll come back home for another 2 weeks in October, and we'll go to Disneyland! He'll be home for good in January to take a refresher course in the F-16 (he's on a non-flying job in Korea, which is not fun for him, but it has to be done), and then hopefully we'll move back to Europe. Anyway, that's the plan!
I just thought I'd throw my situation out there. It's been hard for me to bring it up previously, but I have a feeling I'll be needing some support with this later, and you girls are so helpful with lifting spirits.
I cannot imagine how hard it must be for you right now. Being a mom is hard enough WITH your husband around, much less if he's across the world. It sounds like you are dealing with everything VERY well and it is great that you have the technology to get you through.
I give your husband much credit for his service to our country but I give YOU just as much for making it all happen at home!
I'm glad you're getting to stay in touch with him and getting to see him even a little bit! Let us know if you need ideas for Oklahoma. I'm pretty familiar with Altus and very familiar with OKC and have friends in Enid (I think i hit all the air force bases in OK).
I'm so thankful for anyone who makes the service committment that your family has made. I hope your year flies by!

I know how you feel though.......but anyway try vonage.
gosh, cricket, I'm sure that's tough on you. it's kind of an unglued feeling isn't it? like there's a piece missing in your life. my husband travels a lot, so I know how it feels. a year is a whole different story than 3 week stints though -- please feel free to vent to us! I know I'm here for you

Cricket, I can't imagine dealing with such a situation. I have a hard time when my husband is gone for a week or so -- I can't imagine dealing with so much time alone, especially with kids. You're so strong!

Wow, you have a lot of strength. DH and I dated long distance for a year and I thought that was tough! I can't imagine being married and having children on top of that. Anyway, I hope the time flies by for you all and that he gets home before you know it. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help. (((hugs)))
