***NEWSFLASH***

Some other Lost-centric boards are reporting that the man's name in the newspaper was Jeremy Bentham, a philosopher known for the idea of panopticon .

Some other thoughts:
Did anyone else totally want to brain Bernard?!  We finally get to see him again, and he spouts off his mouth like an imbecile!

Also, at the end when Jack is waiting at the airport for Kate, she drives up in a Volvo sedan wearing enough makeup to drown a horse.  Makes me think she's not with Sawyer .....

There were rumors flying around that the little girl in Ben's backstory is actually Kate as a child. I'm not sure how that would actually work, but maybe she's with Ben. I just don't think that she's with Sawyer. It's too obvious.

Ewwwwwwww, Kate and Ben!   Icky!  Icky!

I personally don't think the girl in Ben's backstory was Kate, I think it was Kate's mom.  I think the island is supposed to slow down aging, so if Ben and Annie were the same age in the flashback, they should either be the same age now or he should be 'younger' than she.  I think as it stands now that Ben is at least 10 years Kate's senior.  But that would also put him at 10-20 years younger than Kate's mom, which fits decently with the island aging vs. real life aging ....

I read a theory that Annie, the girl in Ben's backstory, was Danielle Rousseau (with ANIE being the middle of her name, almost ANNIE, etc.). But then why would she have an accent and say she'd been shipwrecked there?

At any rate, I loved the episode last night! Loved Hurley saving the day in the VW bus, loved Sayid snapping that guy's neck with his feet, loved Jin telling Sun he had to take her home. Jack is getting too monomaniacal for me, and I agree that it looks as though they caused some big mistake which resulted in many deaths or some other horrible secret they're keeping. I also agree that his dad isn't alive, and that Jack was spouting crazy talk due to his meds/drinking.

How can we make it til next season???

Seriously, Feb '08 is such a long time from now! Why can't they do normal seasons and just end it in '09, instead of '10?

I was also thinking about why Charlie locked himself in that room-- probably to fulfill Desmond's vision. According to Desmond, Charlie had to die in order for Claire to be rescued. If he hadn't done what he did, then it would have knocked of the rest of the sequence of events. So, he ultimately died a hero.

Ewwww!  Ben and Kate, I don't like that idea AT ALL.  But, yeah, I agree that she's probably not w/ Sawyer.

I'm with you on this, kenzie.  I think Charlie locked himself in there because he knew he would have to in order for Claire to be saved.  He also knew that if Desmond saw Penny and was able to talk to her that Desmond would never leave and would ultimately drown.  I think he also did it to save Desmond.

I'm also with you and Elle on the mention of Jack's father being the drugs talking.  I just don't think that even if Jack's father was alive, he would never be able to be a practicing surgeon again after operating while drunk.

As far as Kate in the future goes, I don't think she's with Sawyer.  I just don't see Sawyer as the type to settle down and get married.  And if she was with Sawyer, I don't think Jack would have any reason to have secret meetings with Kate--he'd be must more open about it.

My theory is that when rescue comes on the island, the Losties ultimately have to choose whether or not to stay on the island or go back.  Some of them definitely have reason to want to go home and some definitely have incentive to stay (Locke, Rose, and Hurley being the main ones I can think of off the top of my head).  I think it'll be fun to see how it plays out.

The door to the room the radio-blocking switch is in only locks from the inside, but he technically could have unblocked it, gone out, and shut the door behind him.  But then he wouldn't have spoken to Penny (waiting oh so conveniently at her computer!) and wouldn't have found out that boat isn't hers.

I agree with Kenzie that regardless of all that, he felt that if he didn't fulfill Desmond's vision as is and die, things might not go as they should and Claire and Aaron might not get saved.  Surely he didn't want to risk screwing that up.

I think that the decision Jack made to let the others kill Sayid, Jin, and Bernard at the beach is the forshadowing for a similar decision on a much larger scale when they leave the island.  It would appropriately torture his soul to make the futureJack we saw plausible ....

I guess I'm the only one who didn't care for the episode.  I am so sick of the Jack character... I wish he had stayed with the Others!

I don't think I'll be back for Lost season 4.  All the characters that I care about hardly got screen time this season, and I don't see them getting more screen time next season.
