How do you all feel about users posting photos with very large dimensions/measurements on these forums- - even if the size of the photo (kb, MB) is not very large? I always feel bad about it after I put a huge pic on (see book thread on Entertainment forum); but I do it without thinking. Your opinions? Just curious.
its kind of annoying, but i really don't care (unless its so huge you have to keep scrolling and scrolling to even know what it is- which i've never seen happen here). i understand that somtimes sites have big photos.
I think you can usually, if not always, make them smaller by clicking on the picture and then dragging in the corner. I've done it before on pics that posted too big, but I don't know if it's just certain kinds of pics or pics from certain sites; but I do know I've done it.
I don't care. What's more annoying to me is when somebody points out "sorry for the big picture." I don't see what the problem about it is. If you thought it was too huge, just downsize it!
Doesn't bother me at all. Usually when someone says "sorry for the big pic" I have no idea what they are apologizing for; pics never look unruly to me.

I think I'm actually in the minority here, but big photos do bug me. It's partly because (for most browser windows/most un-firewalled work places) it's fairly easy to size them down. I understand if for some reason you can't size them down, but if you can I don't see any reason why you shouldn't. Just click on the picture and pull the corners down- just like you would for any other image manipulation. Also, since we're on the subject and I'm feeling pissy , if you're gonna be posting a lot of pictures (usually four, sometimes three), please please hit the enter button to drop them down onto a second or third line if needed. Scrolling across (right to left) the page for multiple images in a row is much more annoying than big pictures making me scroll farther down the page. If you realize that the pictures you posted are all appearing in a row across the screen, just use the edit function on your post to move the images down a second row.
As Squishy said...I do think at some point, the larger pictures, more scrolling does end up costing money in the long run. I'm not sure on that part...but just downsize the pics if you can (and don't apologize, that's probably even more annoying then the actual big pic) and edit the posts to scroll properly if you can and all is hunky dory.
I guess in the long run I don't understand why bigger pictures are posted most of the time. A lot of sites have smaller images as thier default image, you actually need to click on them to get the larger image. Just use the smaller image and no need to downsize and no need to apologize.
Wow- I am feeling pissy. Nothing here meant to offend, truly.

I never have to scroll from side-to-side on this website. It annoys me when I do (often on MySpace). Must be related to screen resolution.
luckylily-I like having bigger pics too sometimes for details.
I saw several people apologizing; and that is exactly why I started this thread. Otherwise, I wouldn't have noticed big vs. small pics - -unless it was a pic that was obnoxiously large or something.

ITA. Especially in the weekday and weekend shopping threads, it screws up the thread and makes me irrationally irritated.
Other than that though, big pics aren't a problem.
ETA: Doh! I just checked the weekend shopping post and I totally did the multiple-images-in-a-row thing myself! Fixed now!
I've never had to scroll sideways, either. If a line gets too long, my computer just automatically puts the next pictures on the next line. So I usually try to just put them all on the same line, thinking that that way everyone's computer will just drop the pictures down on the next line whenever they need it, and it won't take up so much space. I'll start spacing them myself.
