I just realized that I forgot to include around $50 of interest that I earned from a bank account on my tax return this year.  I see that I can file an amended return online, but am just scared and confused about how to proceed and wondered if anyone has ever gone through something similar?!

I don't think $50 is enough to alert anything but you can always resubmit your taxes, even years afterwards.

That's such a small amount that I wouldn't worry about it.

Would this $50 push you over $250 in interest for the year?  If not, they don't tax you until you go over that amount anyhow .....

I wouldn't worry about it. I think I made a mistake on ours too, but I figure the chances of getting caught are slim, and if I do its an easy explaination. If I was going to cheat on my taxes, I would have "forgotten" a lot more, right?
