It sucks. But you know, it happens to everyone at some point. It happened to me a couple of years ago.
At least you didn't get fired. You were downsized, which means it was all out of your control. You have nothing negative to put on your resume because of this. You did nothing wrong!
And you are right, you have tons of experience, you're great at what you do, you're super smart and you'll always look great, too!
I know it is hard to do, but seriously, ENJOY this little break while you are looking ... there is gorgeous weather out there. That is one thing I wish I would've done more when I was laid off. I was too freaked out to enjoy my time off.
I know you'll find something really GREAT (and probably more money, too). Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!
Hey ... I am going to be at Mia Francesca Saturday night and probably out after that. If you are around and want to hook up, give me a call!
I'm sorry to hear this! It's hard - even if you'd wanted it to happen - to let go of a job where you're comfortable and familiar with your coworkers. DH and I were laid off within two weeks of each other, back in 2000...I had six years in with the company. It was a bit of a rollercoaster for a while, but ultimately it led to wonderful things for us.
Remember to allow yourself time to grieve for the loss - so many people I know who are in this situation don't allow themselves to do that. It's a big life change, and it's okay to feel sad about it for some time. My compensation package included three months of career counseling...not sure if you will have that available, but if it does, please use it. It will help some.
*hugs*

Ugh, that sucks! I've had that happen to me also! I cried in the office when they told me. I cried when I told my mom in person. I cried when I called my husband over the phone to tell him. It just sucked! But things happen for a reason, even though you can't see why yet. I'm so sure you'll find something soon and things will be turning around for you. keep your head up and enjoy the days you have off for now :)
