God I'm so sorry, I had the same thing happen to me about 2 years ago and remember that feeling, it's horrible. Senind good thoughts your way. And you know us Chicago girls are here if you need to cry into some drinks!

I'm so sorry! I think I remember you saying that you really liked your boss too! That is really horrible; it's very scary to have that security suddenly dissappear.
I know there is a great job out there for you tho! Almost everyone I know who has been laid off has gotten a job they liked better than the one they lost. I know that isn't much consolation right now, but you are such an intellegent individual, I'm sure it'll all turn out just fine.
(((hugs))) i am so sorry. but you know what, just to think positively for a second- this could end up being a really good thing. your boss had turned into sort of an asshole, right? i assume you'll get unemployment to help float you thru for a bit - and sometimes starting at a new place can be a really welcome change. i really think it will all work out for the best. I'm sure you are going to get a better, more enjoyable, higher paying job now- you have too much going for you to not!
i def agree w/ the above posters that when one door closes another opens. i know that it's scary to start over, but like you said - you have a great deal of experience and any prospective employer will see your loyalty and dedication that you had to that company!
That sucks. Seriously. Maybe you'll find a new job that pays you tons more. That'd be cool, right? I'm sorry you're going through all this - you definitely don't deserve it. And employers wonder why we don't have any company loyalty, eh?
You'll get through this. Feel free to vent here all you can/want.
Oh my God! I am so sorry!! Just remember that we are here for you for career counseling, advice, guidance, etc...
Have a big cocktail this evening, and then I promise in a few days you will be excited about having a break in the routine - sleep in, go to the gym for 2 hours, watch Oprah, cook dinners from scratch...
Awww..sweetie! That's horrible! Especially after having been there so long. That's got to be one of the scariest feelings, especially since you didn't see it coming at all.
Oh my God, how awful. I can imagine it would suck if you saw it coming, but it sounds so awful to be completely blind-sided like that.
I know it's not easy to see right now, but as they say, "when one door closes, another door opens." It's cheesy, but quite true. I know you have been having some issues with your boss for awhile, so maybe you can use this as an opportunity to launch yourself into something different.
I'm really sorry this happened to you. I'll be sending good "new-job-vibes" your way.
What awful news!!! I'm sorry to hear this about you, esp. after being w/the company for almost 7 yrs. And to not see it coming - even worse. Keep ya head up, and we'll pray that something EVEN BETTER comes along for you!
