Brother's 40th Bday - need funny gift ideas
Permalink Closed

My brother is turning 40 this month, and we're having a small family bday party for him. Our schtick is for me to make fun of how old he is. (That might just be my schtick, but he laughs so whatever!)

I'd like for my gift to be as hilarious and offensive as possible (without actually being offensive - no Viagra for instance). I already have some Depends to give him, and I thought about hemorrhoid cream and Aleve but what else?

Also, any ideas on how to make the party special for him? I say special but what I mean is over-the-hill. biggrin.gif I'm enjoying the heck out of his bday, can you tell?

Thoughts? Ideas?

What about one of those canes with the horn and rear view mirror.

I definitely second the idea of one of those canes or walkers--they always crack me up.

Some other ideas:  Tums, reading glasses, Just For Men hair dye, maybe a large print book.  If you could find some pamphlets from the drug store about aging, that could be good.  How about some black and/or white tube socks or a fanny pack?  I tend to associate those things with old people.  Oooh!  Denture stuff!  And maybe one of those little containers that holds all of your medications for each day of the week!  Maybe some literature on AARP or a magazine on retirement.  Now I'm having too much fun with this!  biggrin  I'll see if I can think of anything else.

Ha! That's great. Where do you get one of these things?

I love all the ideas - keep 'em coming!

I'm thinking about asking his wife what are some of his "regular" meds (otc) so I can include some of those and he can at least get some use out of the gift. hee. Although it's not especially supposed to be useful. wink.gif

You can get one of those handy things at AsSeenOnTv.com for only $9.95!

I bet they have lots of other nifty gadgets too! biggrin

Kind of off topic, but hubby totally keeps threatening to get me one of these things since bending over to pick things up isn't that easy these days giggle.gif

I second the pill box - try to find the biggest and most offensive one possible! I have a lot of health problems and take a gazillion pills a day. My BF always calls me an old lady because I need a week-long one just for one days' worth of pills. He found some huge one at the dollar store and gave it to me as a gag gift - it was a whole week's worth, but it was also divided into compartments for four different times of the day (so 28 compartments total!). The compartments and the letters on top were huge for old eyes. It was hilarious (although I'm not going to pretend I liked getting that at my age!)

Maybe a large-print reader's digest? Old people are always reading those :)

Bengay?

Rogain?

For my mother's upcoming retirement, I 'm getting her a Wal-mart greeter vest, hopefully with patches and buttons.  It's perfect for her because it makes fun of her age AND she's about as anti- Walmart as they come.  My sister and I are very excited about it!

My bro turned 40 this year too & aside from the over the hill stuff my mom dedicated a wall to hanging a bunch of pictures from when he was a baby on. All his school pics, sports pics, etc... it was a big hit.

Where do you get the Walmart vest? That's freakin' hilarious! Do they sell them at Walmart?

You can't leave out the GIANT Tub of Metamucil, some geritol, and maybe a few brochures on travel trailers or retirement villages....

This may be a little too morbid, but maybe one of those Do It Yourself Will and Estate Planning kits....

Blubirde, I got the idea while browsing on eBay. I can't even remember what I was looking for, but somehow I stumbled across someone selling their old Wal-Mart uniforms. I've seen a few on eBay, but I'm going to look around the internet a little bit more and I'll let you know if I find any.

Okay - I started my shopping yesterday. I went to Target and hit up the clearance aisles in the drugstore area. I got:

polygrip for dentures
gold bond powder
benefiber
pill box

It's quite the excellent start. I'm going to hit up Walgreens this weekend and see what they have. I'd like to find a long chain (preferably old lady like) for his glasses, some huge rayban type sunglasses, and a magnifying glass (so he can read the labels, newspapers, and what not).

I'm going to hit up the thrift stores this weekend and look for canes. Hilarious! I think I'm going to number all his gifts and put little sayings in them (i.e. in the benefiber box - as you age, things slow down. best to keep the important things moving along. or something like that - I haven't thought it through yet).
