I went yard sale-ing last weekend and bought a vintage desk (1960s, I think) and chair (1940s). They were in pretty bad condition -- the desk was solid wood, but banged-up and stained an oak color. The chair was a yellowy varnish and had ripped-up fabric.

Anyway, my mother-in-law (who is AMAZING) sanded and repainted them and re-upholstered the chair. They are for my new, girly office. Look how cool they turned out!

($10 desk + $8 chair + 2 cans of $3 paint + $30 fabric):
