girls in Baltimore/DC, ideas on how to spend my day?
Permalink Closed

I'm going to be there tomorrow ~11 am.  I will be on site all week 8-7 so not a lot of time for fun, but tomorrow is free & I have no idea how to spend the day.
Can you recommend something to do?  I'm thinking a museum exhibit or visiting somewhere scenic.  I will have a rental car.

I shouldn't do anything shopping related bc I'm on a ban :)  But I do love to take artistic photographs and I'll have my digital SLR, lenses, etc. with me (good camera stuff).

Also, the more restaurant recommendations the merrier.  I will make time for late dinners every night if possible.  I'm kind of a foodie, my favorites are Spanish, Cuban and Japanese.  But I'll try anything.  Plus I can expense it all ;)

Thank you ladies so much!!

I always like walking around the inner harbor when I visit my sister in B'more. There's a lot of restaurants there and the aquarium and just fun people watching. It's supposed to be gorgeous tomorrow, so that's one good option.

In D.C., you just missed the Cherry Blossom Festival (but it was really wet that weekend anyway), but you can probably still go down to the Tidal Basin and see what's left. It's still really pretty down there. If you are in DC, you have the Smithsonian to visit, and there are tons of cool exhibits to see! Filmfest is going on in DC: http://www.filmfestdc.org/

Another scenic place to visit if you don't mind driving is Annapolis(about 30 minutes from DC). I have a soft spot for it because I went to college there for a bit. The Naval Academy has really pretty grounds, and Annapolis is a very walkable, quaint little city.

There's Old Town Alexandria (where I live), which has a lot of good restaurants, and you can go check out the art exhibits and artists at the Torpedo Factory and walk on the pier. www.torpedofactory.org/ There's also a lot of little cute shops to just window shop.

Are you looking for restaurants in DC or Baltimore? :)

In the currently beautiful weather, I'd recommend walking around the national mall in DC and taking some pics at the various memorials!

Thanks ladies!  I ended up spending the entire day at the Smithsonian.  It was a beautiful day to walk around, and they had Japanese performers in one of the gardens.  I sat out with some gelato and enjoyed the weather :)

I would love any restaurant recs in Baltimore/Columbia/Beltsville.  There's nothing but chain restaurants near my hotel.
Thanks again!

hmm..let's see...

If you like Indian..I'd recommend Akbar Palace in Columbia..

there is a place my DH and I use to get Sushi in Columbia but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it..
I'll have to get back to you (hopefully before you leave!) about that..

hmm...unfortunately you are staying in suburbia..there is almost nothing BUT chain resturants..
