can you fax from your computer?
Permalink Closed

I've been pursuing a really cool job opportunity that would allow me to work from home a few days a week?  The employer has asked me what kind of resource I would need to successfully work from home.  I do fax enough that I'd like to have that option.  However, I don't currently have a phone line.  I'm pretty sure there is software or some way to send and recieve faxes from a computer.

Anyone know anything about that?

TIA!

Yup there's a program.  Our realtor used it all the time when we were house hunting - he could send faxes from his PDA!  His computer fax also had it's own phone number if you needed to send something to the computer fax.  I'm pretty sure he didn't have dial-up internet wink.gif, and it seems like people who have a high speed connection would be more likely to be the people who'd need a computer fax, right?  I'm pretty sure it can be done .....

I don't know a brand or cost or anything like that though, but it sounds like it could be super handy.

My company uses a program called FaxPress and we can all send and recieve faxes right to our computer. They actually come into our email inboxes in Outlook. I don't know much about the program otherwise, though. You could try to google it and see what you find.

I use eFax. I can send and receive faxes from my computer. It's about $15 a month and tax deductible, since all I use it for is work.

You have to download a special program to read the faxes that come in, but it's quick and painless to install.

Thanks all. I looked into these options and it seems like eFax might work best for my given setup.

Actually, you should look into MyFax as well. It is the same thing as eFax, but they have better rates. I did a ton of research on this at my last job.
