Did anyone watch? Finally, an episode with some answers! Juliet is so playing everyone, and rather believable doing it. I still don't think she's all evil though, but rather that Ben is coercing her in exchange for going home. I knew something was up with them not being able to reproduce when they seemed so obsessed with Claire and little kids. I'm glad they finally touched back on that topic.
I can't remember, was Alex born on the island or was she a baby when Danielle & company ship-wrecked? If she's indeed Rousseau's daughter, how come she is not dead? Is it because this only happens if you conceive on the island? I don't think so though, because Claire didn't conceive on the island and Juliet said she was exhibiting all the symptoms (though that could've been part of her load of cr*p).
And who the heck is Jacob? Tell us more already!!
Only five more episodes left... I am starting to worry they're going to pull a Twin Peaks on us, since viewership is really down (going to the later time slot didn't help). In any case it seems like they won't be able to go more than one additional season. And I just have to say it because I love him: how cute was Sawyer when he saw Kate? Thoughts?

do you really think we got answers? i think everything that was revealed by juliet was a lie. i thought the episode was genius. oh, and no worries on it being canceled- viewership is down but it's still one of the top shows on tv right now - they're negotiating for several more years.
I think we got *some* answers, but as is the case with this show, those answers lead to more questions. Yes, we know Juliet is deceiving all the Losties, but from her backstory we know that she really wants to get off the island, so maybe she is working out another deal with Ben? On another note, this whole fertility experimentation stuff is just weird.

Well, I do think that everything Julied SAID was a lie, but not her flashbacks. And her flashbacks did reveal some answers in regards to why she's there and about the others on the island. They also showed that Jeanine (sp?) woman dying on the operating table. Unless it was a fake flashback I think that part is true.
Honestly, I don't know if I could stand a few more years of it. I think one more season would be dandy with me as long as they tie things together nicely.

I loved this episode! I think Juliet is one of the more interesting characters--her character changed so drastically between the time she was at home and as we know her now. She used to be a total push-over and now she's manipulating everyone. I think she's manipulating them to get her hands on Sun so she can finish her work on the island and go home. I think they know that Sun is pregnant and they're definitely focusing on her.
Going to a later time slot probably hurt them in terms of viewership on Wednesday nights, but can't they also track viewership on Tivos and the web as well? If so, then I'm sure Lost is still one of the most popular shows out there. Plus, ABC and the writers know that Lost's fan base is extremely devoted and they've shown an effort in the past to give the fans what they want which leads me to believe they'll stick this show out for a few more seasons.
I loved this episode; definitely one of the more exciting and interesting of the season. It was nice to see them come back to the fertility theme -- at least now we have a more concrete idea of what the Others are doing on the island. Didn't Ben say he had been born there, or at least lived there all his life? I wonder how that ties into this -- if he was born there, then what happened to make the next generation unable to reproduce? And if he wasn't born there, how did he end up there at a young age?
I'm pretty sure Rousseau explained in season 1 that her daughter came with her to the island, but was very young.
Seeing Juliet's reveal at the end gave me the old chills down my spine that used to happen so much when watching this show. As frustrating as the beginning of this season was, I think in the long run it will make sense. It seems like they are making the show with more than weekly broadcasts in mind -- it's more like a very extended movie, and the first half of this season with Jack, Kate, and Sawyer as captives is a necessary part of the larger story arc. However, I was as frustrated as anyone while watching it. :)
Even though the numbers have been down this year, Lost is still one of the most popular shows on TV, and it makes ABC a lot of money. The show's creators announced a few months back that they're negotiating with ABC about an end date to the series. Here's an article about it from Entertainment Weekly:

The Endgame?
At the Television Critics Association tour, ''Lost'' producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof say talks are underway about a series finale
HATCHING A PLAN Lindelof has said he hopes the show will wrap after episode 100
Pasadena, Calif. Though no announcement appears planned for this season, the producers of Lost are eager to choose the date of the series finale so they can ''take care of a lot of anxiety and questions'' about the 3-year-old drama, said executive producer Damon Lindelof.
''We're in discussions about picking an end point to the show,'' Lindelof told reporters at the Television Critics Association tour. ''The underlying anxiety is that this is not going to end well [if they don't pick a finale date]. None of us wants to be on a stalling show that has one week where we we're building sand castles. We [don't want to get to a place where] we're not evolving.''
''J.K. Rowling acknowledged that there would be seven Harry Potter books, so she was certainly driving to a conclusion,'' adds executive producer Carlton Cuse. ''It's time for us to find an end point so a lot of concerns will go away.''
ABC confirmed that discussions were ongoing, but nothing has been finalized. Obviously, a lot rides on the strength of the net's current crop of shows and whether its 2007-08 dramas can someday take the place of a strong performer like Lost, which remains ABC's third-most-watched drama behind Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. Lindelof has said he hopes Lost will sunset after 100 episodes (they're producing No. 62 now). ''We look at The X-Files as a bit of a cautionary tale,'' adds Cuse. ''That was a great show that probably ran two seasons too long. Lost has a much shorter shelf life.''
Meanwhile, it appears likely that ABC will avoid rerun breaks next season and run back-to-back episodes of Lost in either the fall or spring of 2008. The network had considered running the current season without an (interminable) down period over the holidays, but it needed the show in the September to launch The Nine, which bowed with critical acclaim but still faltered in the ratings. (Ultimately The Nine was yanked and canceled after 13 episodes, some of which have yet to air). ''Now our Sundays and Thursdays are really strong, so we'll run 22 straight through either in the fall or the spring,'' said ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson.

I'm pretty sure Rousseau explained in season 1 that her daughter came with her to the island, but was very young.
Actually she was pregnant when they shipwrecked - 7 months IIRC. I find the fertility stuff very interesting! I wonder what causes the 'others' to have such problems with pregnancy though - the amount of time they've spent on the island? Too evil to reproduce? Because Rousseau was able to give birth and live, and so was Claire (and we know now her 'symptoms' where caused by the activation of a device implanted by the others, not an actual ailment related to pregnancy).
I really liked this episode. Juliet soooo rocks, that secret badass! I also liked the end when Sawyer and Kate saw each other again - it felt suprisingly genuine to me.

Oooh, she (Rousseau) was pregnant? I forgot! The mystery thickens...
