Would This Be Too Short?
Permalink Closed

last year i got hit by a car when i was riding my bike and i have a scar slightly above my knee.  it looks like i was cutting myself because it's about four lines right on top of eachother.  so, i'm super self conscious about it because i also have a wicked scar on my wrist that looks like i was cutting myelf (went through a glass door when i was little).

i am 5'6"

it says 36" from shoulder to hem (i am a D cup which i think might make it shorter)

Unfortunatly I think it would be too short. The model looks as if she has long legs and might be at about 5'5" to 5'8" tall. hmm

i wouldnt let the results from something that was out of your control and that is in your past keep you rom wearing certain things. JMO. p.s. have you tried microdermabrasion? it worked wonders for my scars

You could wear it as a top with some pants underneath if it too short for your own comfort.

Cute dress, but I agree, it may be too short; maybe w/something under neath, as suggested. And don't feel so badly about your scars.....I have a few myself.smile

I think it will be too short if your intention is to hide your scar....the dress length seems like it will hit a couple inches too high.

FWIW, I have so many scars from various dumb things like running into open dishwater doors/falling on the treadmill from doing HIIT, biking, shaving, etc. and it hasn't stopped me from wearing shorter skirts.

I agree.  I don't think it will hide your scar but wear it anyway!

Very cute dress! If I were skinnier, I would definitely wear it :) I don't really think it matters whether you have a scar or not to other people, but I do understand you are self-consicious about it. I have a black spot on my foot and also broke a toe nail which resulted in a very tiny toe nail permanentlly, and I do think about them and feel sad sometimes, but I try not to prevent myself from wearing what I want. You should wear the dress and see how you feel. You can wear pants or jeans if the scar bothers you too much.

If you like it, then go for it!  I have a wonky scar on my left knee that I'm self conscious about, but no one ever notices it.  People probably won't notice your scar either, and if they do, I don't think they'd immediately jump to "she cuts herself."

I agree. Especially on your knee. Although I know it's not outside the realm of possibility for someone to cut their knee, that would never be the first, or even the tenth, thing I would assume a cut like that was from.

thanks for all your responses.  i know i'm more self-conscious than i should be, but it really looks like the markings of someone who cuts themself.  my bf's family once asked him about it (super-embarassing), so i think that makes me even more self-consious.  i might just get some concealor (like tattoo cover-up) because i like the dress.

damn that guy who hit me (hit and run).  karma's a bitch, that's all i can hope because that was sooo not cool of him.

hit and run?! oh my gosh, i'm so sorry! that guy deserves an especially ass-kicking brand of bad karma. that is terrible. i hope he feels massive guilt.

after my appendectomy last year i used this cream called mederma, which makes scars softer and smoother. it didn't make my scar completely go away, but it was a big improvement nonetheless.

I wouldn't worry about the scar. The dress is adorable and if you like it, you should go for it.

BTW, there is this stuff called Miracell that gets rids of scars and prevents them, it is AMAZING. It's $10 for a small bottle, but totally worth it. A little goes a long way and it's worked really well for me and some other people I know.
