renter's insurance?

Does anyone have this? Can someone estimate monthly price or point me in the direction of where to look for a reputable company? I'm in NYC. Would it cover all belongings (clothes, jewelry, electronics, etc.)?

We have renters insurance. My husband has a home recording studio that we've put a lot of money into, so we don't want to risk not having the insurance. I'm in Seattle, so I can't speak to NYC cost. However, we pay $370/year and that covers all our electronics equipment, furniture, clothes, and costume jewelry. For individual jewelry valued at $1,000 or above, our co recommends additional coverage, but we don't get that.

I have renter's insurance. I'd recommend going through your auto insurance (if you have a car), because it gets you a break on both renter's and auto insurance.

I got mine through GEICO. It's actually some company GEICO uses since they don't do their own renter's insurance. I pay about $250/year and I get $40,000 coverage (if I'm remembering correctly).

When we had our apartment here in Houston I was paying about $200 a month, but I don't know about pricing in NYC. We had it along with our car insurance through State Farm. You just have to estimate all of your belongings and then you will have the choice of how much coverage you want. It is worth the peace of mind to get it, imo.

i remember when i called to get it they told me to estimate how much it would cost to replace everything.  then, based on that, they came up with my insurance rates.  i did combo it with my auto so i got a break.

i don't know what the pricing in NYC would be...
