help! is this way too casual for a wedding?
Permalink Closed

please help! i very rarely get dressed up, so i don't have many formal clothes. i've got to go to a not-too-dressy wedding on saturday and don't know what to wear! i'm guessing this is probably too casual, so is there anything anyone could suggest to make it more suitable? thanks x

I think a full skirt would make it less casual and maybe some heels.

I think it's far too casual for any wedding.

I'd switch up the white cami or tee underneath for something lacey.  I'd wear a full skirt, as boobaby suggested, with high heels.  Dressier jewelry would be good, as well.

Oui. I think it's also too casual. Black on black with awesome jewelry can dress up an outfit.

edit: How about something like this? It's casual, but still sleek dressy. I'd do black on black still with a chunky white necklace.

but no scarf thingy.

Even for the most casual of weddings, jeans are just too casual.  Anthropologie has a LOT of cute things that would totally be appropriate:
murmur teebustle back skirtpastiche cuff
hialeah silk dressmaiko dress

From Banana Republic (and it would be easy to wear again later):

I love the BR dress NCShopper posted!  That would be so versatile -- you could dress it up or down.

i guess the photo isn't very clear - they are black trousers not jeans. thanks for the suggestions but unfortunately i don't have access to anthro or BR :( i think i'm going to have a look for a skirt or a dressier top. what do you think of this one? it's a nude/purpleish colour with applique flowers at the neckline in the same fabric as the rest of the top

I think that purplish top you just posted would look dressy enough with the black trousers and heels, add some gold jewelry!!

I think that would be an appropriate top for a casual wedding with your black trousers. I second the recommendation of switching to heels, though, and adding some dressy-ish pieces of jewelry.

Keep the top, but wear a skirt and some heels. Add some accessories and your good to go :)

I agree. I don't like the idea of pants for a wedding.
