I participated in my first Race for the Cure here in San Antonio. I had fun and the cool thing is that my company matched every employee's registration fee.
Anybody else doing Race for the cure?

No, I'm not. I don't particpate in stuff like this even though I'm dealing with cancer first hand. I'm kind of bitter about breast cancer fund raising -- the funds all go to fueling the breast cancer marketing machine. I won't deny that it helps increase awareness, but none of those funds go to research, and that's what kind of pisses me off.

Sorry I'm so bitter and such a Debbie Downer. I think it's very generous of you to spend your time raising funds even if it is just for awareness.

I've done the Race for the Cure a lot of times in both Arkansas and NYC. It's been a bonding thing for a lot of my friends and our moms we all run/walk together. It's tough to see those walking "in memory" of loved ones but uplifting to see the survivers racing.

D: I didn't realize that the money doesn't go all to research but I guess when I think about all the advertising and stuff they do I can see where this really just helps with awareness. It seems like they would be able to raise so much money though, they could donate more towards research?
